Jesus, what a bunch of whiny bitches in here.
The OP likes Uzis, and he has some beauties, anything wrong with that? In case you hadn't noticed, this thread is posted in the PISTOL CALIBER CARBINES section. People who post in here want to talk about, and share their enthusiasm for - get this - PISTOL CALIBER CARBINES. If you don't like PCCs, what the hell are you doing in this forum?? All you tier-1 basement dwellers can get all hot and bothered in the AR15 forum section. You can talk about rifle ballistics til you turn blue, if you so desire. I have a semi PPSh-41 (and an AR15) and I'd pick the PPSh over any AR15, all day, every day. Why? Because I like PCCs. So do many who post in this section. You know, the PISTOL CALIBER CARBINE section. Get it yet? If you don't like PCCs, leave! We don't give a rat's ass about your ballistics charts. We already KNOW about rifle-pistol caliber ballistics, thank you. |

I know what .223 will do, and I know what 9mm will do. Originally I chose .223 and 9mm as my callibers because of the sheer popularity of the round, I figured in a SHTF situation, I will come accross these callibers more often than not. I just traded my FS2000 for an AT94 plus parts, as part of a calliber consolidation project. Instead of having to worry about stocking, maintaining, and locating 2 different callibers, I've consolidated to one, 9mm. Why?... because I'm confident it will do what I need it to do. There are no Senderos here in Louisiana.... If you can see somebody 500 meters from you, chances are very good they are going somewhere else and you won't see them for long. If they are trying to get in my house, the 9mm will do just fine. But, all that aside... the man had a point... This is the PCC forum, if you want to bash them, why don't you just GTFO. |

Nope, I have pistol caliber carbines as well and I am not going anywhere. I have two Colt 9mms to be exact with one being a 635 clone with a spare suppressed upper.
Misinformation is still misinformation regardless of how enthusiastic you are about it. |

Variety is the spice of life I guess...
But there is a reason why Special Forces use MP5s as well as M16's, SAWs, etc. Don't get me wrong, I know there are situations where only a rifle caliber will do, But, what is this misinformation you speak of.... .223 > 9mm sometimes, but sometimes, 9mm will do the job just as well. I mean we are talking SHTF; in this situation, laws do not apply....In the unlikely event of a SHTF scenario, the first thing I'm going to do is make a couple hundred mercury and/or armor piercing rounds..... Body armor no longer applies. (NATO will have to go to hell, In an eat or be eaten situation, I will eat.) Hell, 600 Nitro > .223, but in most cases, the .223 will do the job. Why can't you understand that 9mm can do the same job as a .223 for home/family defense? Yes, I would want a rifle to snipe..... but that's apples and oranges. The thought that you will be on your roof, and not hunting food / gathering or boiling water / taking care of some other survival need, when someone is coming to take what is yours, is ludicrous. Maybe if you are in more of an organized group; but then you will have a variety of weapons at that point. /meh... this is giving me a headache.... lol |

When I replied way back in the beginning of this....I was simply suggesting the OP might want to rethink putting all his eggs in the 9mm Uzi Basket......never once said that it wasn't suitable as a defensive weapon.......I just thought his statement that it was the end all be all of home defense firearms was a little......well, narrow minded.... |

Some interesting reading when you talk about effective range of your firearm:
Long Range Combat My personal feeling is....well....personal and I will keep it to myself. But I will say I have a "few" 9mm carbines and they have their place. I also have a few 5.56mm rifles, and they have a place too. Same goes for my .300 BLK and so forth. I think the Uzi looks cool, but every time I pick one up I think, "Damn this thing is heavy for a 9mm!". |

Well, damn. I guess I'm screwed. I dont use my 9mm AR, any of my .223 or 6.8 ARs or any of my 1911s in .45 for home defense. All I keep loaded and ready for protection against the zombies/goblins is this old beat up 870 with 00 buck.
J/K guys. this has been a funny thread. please carry on... Edit to add, forgot about those damn tribesmen. Zombies/goblins/tribesmen. Yeah, thats it. |

BUY AN UZI YOU WONT BE DISIPOINTED. As I said, I think the Uzi is a brick of lead! But I still like them...if someone could just lighten them up some.Actually, the Israels think the same. They have this "Uzi-Pro" now that is much lighter. Now these are really Bad Azz Uzi Pro Uzi-Pro two As for the 9mm Carbine...as I said, I have MANY! So many I sold two and still have many! Two AR 9mm's, Marlin 9 Camp, CX-4, Kel-Tec Sub9, and just because it was so cheap on sale a Hi-Point 995-TS just for the fun of it! If I could find an Uzi for the right price I would buy it if for no other reason than its historic value. ( I landed in Cairo a couple of weeks after the Six Days War. Uzi's were used a lot in that conflict and their image is burned into memory. One can never forget all those pictures of the Israeli's with Uzi's around their necks. They looked like......victory..... (but in reality almost all the Israel's weapons fell victim to the sand in the desert...they moved too fast and stirred it all up. Remember...it was all over in six days.) |
