Hell, I'd assume so, this was only the second time I shot it. First time I ran about 300 rounds, and it ran flawlessly. This time it did good for the first 2 mags, then during the 3rd, the last round that fired sounded odd-weak, but with a crack, nasty trigger slap, and a ragged jarring bit of recoil that seemed unusual. Looking at the cases I noticed that the cases are bulging on one side. I'll try to post some pics. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile That sux. Does the Wiselite version have the small metal spring lever on the underside that locks the end cap? On my Type II this has to be compressed quite a bit to allow the end cap to be depressed for the stock to fold. Sounds like you may have has a ruptured case. Probably some metal bits were blown back into the action and are causing the problem. What brand/type ammo were you using? Bulged cases isn't right for sure. I've had the gun for a few months, shot it the first time the day I signed the 4473, after that it sat in the safe until a few days ago. I'm fairly failure with opening and closing the stock, it's always been stiff, but for the life of me I cannot depress the cap far enough to disengage it. I'll take a picture when I can of the slot where you can see the spring when I get a chance. The ammo was walmart wwb bulk pack Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

well, here are the pics i said i'd post. the pics of the bolt shows as far as it will go into battery. if you then pull the trigger it will spring forward and close
. i have not had a chance to take it apart yet to see what the issue is.
the brass pics are what i think were the last rounds fired, not all the brass was bulged or was dirty with carbon like those shown.
i was able to get the stock to close, i had to bear down on that little lever pretty hard, and tapped the end cap with a dead head hammer ![]() |

You need to break the gun all the way down.
Get the bolt out and inspect the face. Check the trigger/sear. Pull the barrel out too. Check the chamber out thoroughly. My guess is there is something in the chamber.area jamming things up. |

It may have to wait a few weeks before I can get the chance to do so Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Well I had the time to disassemble the sterling today.. The rear firing pin spring had bound up and wedged it self between the pin and bolt. I did get it free, but had to leave for work before I could get it back together.

Anyone know if the front sight posts are replaceable on these things?

Yes, someone that goes by PK Arms was selling front sight posts with your choice of fiber-optic glow-rods for a bit. I didn't bother as I don't want to mess with mine.

Given the amount of mass the 9mm rounds have to blow-backwards in these closed-bolt semi's - you want "hot" ammo. And yes - the stock folding mechanisms on these "SMGs" are a PITA, the Brits hated them too. I baby mine open or closed, but of course if you are issued one of these on someone else's nickel (or pound sterling) then you don't care how much abuse you put the gun thru to manipulate the stock open or close. |

Original Front Sight $10.00 http://www.wlarms.com/parts/sterling.htm My front site post is just the littlest bit bent as well. Other than that it runs great and I'm really pleased with it. Want to SBR it. Wish someone one was selling chopped down barrels and earlier style barrel nuts/nose caps. |

"Want to SBR it. Wish someone one was selling chopped down barrels and earlier style barrel nuts/nose caps." It doesn't look impossible to do... On mine, after I remove the too-massive barrel-nut I can see the two holes on either side of the barrel in the recvr face. This is where the 2 cap-screws would thread thru the "normal" barrel nose cap and into the recvr tube and hold the barrel. I'm thinking someone with the mad skills and machine shop could lathe a threaded nut down so that is is shallow enough to just hold the barrel threads, plus of course with a pair of holes for the pair of cap-screws to keep it from rotating away by vibrations. The "notch" in this nose-bolt for the bayo would be a cosmetic bonus. I'm sure if someone made them they would be back-ordered in a NY-minute. |

yes but with an original style cap, you lose any easy way to suppress the gun... and when you have a semi automatic SBR in a pistol caliber, suppressing it is 90% of the fun...

Quick question gun looks great btw. Anyhow what mags does it take? I live in new York state and saw one in a local gun shop. I was thinking of getting one but I need to know where to get additional magazines.
