Local price is $505 after tax, $405 after rebate, for 1895G. I had a $100 gift certificate too so $305 is a great deal. Similar prices available online all over.
The 1895 seems to have not been as bad QC as the 1894, but I would still be hesitant to buy one sight unseen. I suspect the lower pricing is what they are having to do to sell guns. Everybody is, and Marlin has the poor quality stigma from a few years ago on top of the slow market. |

Bought one from Four Winds listed in the link above for $429 +$8 shipping. Include a $20 transfer fee from my local pawn shop and that comes out to $457 - $100 rebate...so $357 for a new 1895G.
I emailed them and asked if they would inspect the rifle for me before shipping (canted sights, wood to metal finish, etc.) and they said they would. They claim to be a family business, so I hope they come through. They responded to my email within an hour before I ordered the rifle, so that I considered that a good omen. I vowed I would never buy one, but many are saying that Remington has turned it around. I hope so......... Might make a nice truck gun for under $360. |
