That topic was formerly misplaced on:

AR-15/AR Variants/ AR15 Variants: what do you think about that “AR15 inspired lever rifle?”
The "AR15.com"'s Staff, proposed me to place that topic on “Armory section”.
Here it is.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi folks,

First and for all, many thanks to those who polled and took time to give theirs thoughts (bad or good).
For those who dislike the design, do not bother: “no firearm were hurt during the process”, whatever the process is fully reversible.

Please, do not forget to poll and tell what you think!

Buldo.

It looks like it adds a lot of bulk to a handy lever gun.  It could be handy in certain situations so I don't completely hate it.

It's definitely unique looking! I'm starting to look towards a lever action as a quiet yet fast shooting suppressor host, this looks like it could be awkward but I'd like to handle to one!

I cannot imagine that would be comfortable or practical working the lever without some SERIOUS breakthrough in design.

I would never own a long gun of any kind with a pistol grip that isn't an autoloader.

Mossberg already took a fine looking levergun:

And screwed it up royally with this abortion:

So, why would you want to make it even worse?

I'd shoot one if someone handed it to me, but I doubt I'd buy one.  If I wanted a lever action rifle that handles like an AR15 I'd look into those lever action ARs I remember seeing info on out of England a while back.

For ban-staters & other countries, fine.  It would be helpful if you could use AR or AK rails & AR or AK pistol grips.  Perhaps mold the lever to the A2 pistol grip; user can change it, but if the angle changes it's on the user.

Make for an interesting .357" pistol.

You have to remove your firing grip to cock the hammer for the first shot which is the first thing I see.

Even though I live in a State that restricts magazines to ten rounds or less, I would still not buy one.  I think it is a great idea.  I'd like to try one but doubt I'd buy one.

Why blue?  I think the blue coloration hurts your initial presentation.

I do agree. 464 is a close derivative from the Winchester 94. And that old design is still one of the better. Light, handy, strong mechanism, quite powerful and highly reliable…

The center of gravity is located at the same position than with the original one (give or take a few tenth of an inch) and the weight of the gun is quite unchanged.
But true. Handing a gun with a prominent pistol grip is very different from a rifle with a straight stock.

Not that easy from the internet, ....
But let's say that for silhouette shooting / fun, the design fits the goal.

With a suppressor? ....
... that souds fun.

It reminds me that there is a French compagny which sells some of them (http://www.stopsontfm.com):

Quote from their website:
"This stainless steel rifle under lever action caliber .45-70 is modified by us for firing a .45-70 / 540 cartridge with 540 grains heavy weight bullet. Energy : 1 326 ft/lbs.
A SF1-CAR suppressor is adapted by cutting the barrel and the magazine tube. Same size and lenght than the original weapon. "

My first try was that following design. Very easy to manipulate the lever with that one (you just have to push the lever forward and backward). It is very fast.
But surprisingly the design presented in this post works well too (When I first build it I doubted it would work nicely, but the prototypes proves me wrong: it is not that bad…). I think it is something that has to be practiced / tried.

That is a good idea. But unfortunately, the AR15 grip won’t fit on the 464’s receiver.  The 464 receiver is larger than the lower receiver of an AR15 (to be more precise, the part of the AR15 receiver that fit the grip).
To do so you would have to put the grip in a much rearward position. And it would be very difficult to pull the trigger.

Have you looked @ AK grips?  There's a wide variety of AK grips on the market as well.

Good idea.

NOTA: Just like the AR grip, the AK grip won't fit on the frame of the 464's reciever.

Looks much better.  We can imagine there's still brown wood there instead of blue plastic.

An AK grip won't fit on the 464 reciever,
but
it is possible to use wood instead of plastic:
- Forearm
- Pistol grip
- Stock

Just like an AK.

What is the purpose of the pistol grip?  I can kinda see wanting a telescoping/folding stock but I don't see what advantage the grip gives me.  All I see are negatives.  Design a more traditional looking stock that has a couple inches of adjustment for LOP, and maybe even folds.  That would be more interesting I think.

There is one : Browning lever action "BLR"
It can fire any type of bullet, up to 300 winchester magnum.

I like the idea of a short, folding stock .44mag or 30-30 all around utility rifle. It's looks are "non traditional", I don't have any problem with that. Others will.
I tote around a light, handy 44 mag pump carbine right now and love it for a large variety of (rural northern AZ mountain) uses, ammo matches up with my N-frame as well.
Make them real, make them short, make them light, I'll buy one if they're rugged & reliable. And in 44 mag.
357 mag would be more popular, imo.
Lightweight rucksack/truck/campsite guns in decent, closer range bigger bore thumping calibers have a place in the world. Responsible hiking/camping Dads might just buy them.
Not owning any current trend/fad guns.....I could be completely wrong tho .
Tweakers, creeps and feral dogs are just about everwhere now. Super light packable with a caliber that hits hard up close, I dig.
A 45-70 based model would just kill it, again imo. But I love the 45-70.
