Nope, I've had this one since about 1999..  I loaded up 100 rounds when I got it using the 265gr Remington's and some long forgotten powder.  I usually get about 1" groups at 100, but had to share the 1/2" at 130..  Unfortunately I only have about 20 left so need to start loading some more soon.

my Winchester 444 is quite possibly my favorite rifle. I carry it a lot year round. it knocks the piss out of animals.

My 444 shot just as good as most bolt guns.  Remember reading somewhere people were saying that marlin used the same barrel stock on the 45-70 and the 444's tended to shoot better because the barrel was heavier.  Don't know if its true but most seem very happy with the accuracy.   I liked my gun but it didn't get used much, as I do most of my hunting in archery season and preferred to carry my savage 99 f in rifle season as it is a little lighter and offered a little more reach.

I own a Marlin 444P in 444 Marlin and yes it is accurate and hits like a sledge hammer. Awesome rifle.

.444 has the same muzzle velocity as 30-06.
