I found a Marlin 336 I'm interested in, but I don't know what to offer.

It is 1980 production, has a Williams FP rear and a Firesight front, and has been Cerakoted.

Not original ,I'd give 250 tops.why was it refinished? Rust bucket? On second thought I'd pass altogether.

This, ceracote has killed any real value beyond a utility gun.   $250

agree on the pass, I wouldn't be investing my cash on it.

Somewhat Ironic that the coating makes it look better but whoever paid money or spent the time to do it hammered the value of that gun .

If it functions 100% and has a good bore it is just a shooter worth only $225-$250 (because of the coating)

I agree with this.  it looks great, but the finish killed any "collector" type value.
As a shooter, I would have no problem paying 300 for that for a good PA woods gun.

That is a 336T (Texan) model. That barrel maybe 18.5 inches. They usually sell around $400-$500 when in great condition (with original bluing).

What is it worth to you Brad? It looks like a nice gun from the pics. Do you care that it has been cerakoted?

That gun is worth at least $300.....maybe more. Some people see a cerakote finish as a plus.

Yep, it has minimal value to me. I'd probably pass on it.

Another worry on a coated gun is if it was a proper job and how it will hold up in the long run

I can't tell anything about it from one fuzzy picture.

I would guess it is worth about $500 if it was done well.  I say that only because the wood looks nice, the finish "looks" well done and any other similar rifle would be about $500 (around here, if you could find one).

If the bore and chamber looks good I'd give $350 without a second though.
For that matter is this at a shop or private party?    I'd be interested in it to throw on the 4-wheeler if it's still avalible.

A refinished JM Marlin is worth more to me than any new Remlin and people get $250 for used Kel-Tec's
Guys the days of the cheap "real" Marlins are just about over.  I guess I should be happy you guys are so cheap

Starting bid is at $700 lol
I guess I'll eat some crow.   I see nice 336 30-30's $350-500 but that isn't a 1895.

It was $825 a few weeks ago.

I've passed over a few nice 30-30 336 rifles but I might have to pick a couple up.
$350-400 is the going rate arround here but they still get used quite a bit by local hunters.   I prefer the 45-70 as a thick brush gun.   It's a shame that thing is so over priced I love the 18in barrel and straight grip. I've never liked the curved grip and that's what I always find for sale
