Level IIIA soft armor is rated for 158 gr .357 mag at about 1,400 fps but a 16" carbine pushes that bullet about 400 fps faster. Care to make a prediction?

The load in question is American Eagle 158 gr JSP.

Interesting, thanks.

(I may point people toward that video when the next "handgun-caliber carbines suck" thread comes around. )

There is a link in the video to the gel test of that load. the wound looks very much like what you expect from a well designed, defense oriented .223 or 7.62x39mm. .357 mag is NOT like other pistol cartridges when fired from a rifle length barrel. If it weren't for that darned rim, it would make for a really fun semi auto cartridge.

The velocity is increasing by 28% but the energy goes up by about 60%

Not a giant surprise the vest can't hold it.

Pistols are pistols but rifles are rifles ( sometimes even with the same ammo)

Fast forward to public outcry and democratic politicians demanding that pistol caliber carbines be banned!  It's for the safety of our police!! Oy vey....(that's sarcasm for you folks that don't habla).
