Hello, I have an early 1990s Marlin 1895SS 45-70.  The previous owner put a Pachmeyer recoil pad on it, which doesn't really fit/look the best.  The stock doesn't appear to have been cut down, so I would like to return it to "stock".  Would this http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/recoil-parts/recoil-pads/butt-plate-butt-pad-prod8389.aspx be the appropriate piece to replace the pad with?  Also, I assume it would take a thin black plastic piece as well, between the wood and the brown pad, right?

Thanks!

That's the correct one....no spacer needed, it has a black one integral to the buttpad. Looks like a grind to fit.

Doesn't Limbsaver have a direct bolt-on that isn't obnoxious?

They do or at least did. I highly recommend it if you will be shooting many heavy loads
