Was at a pawn shop looking at recent  additions to the gun rack. A guy walks in wanting to sell the Winchester. They told him they had too many lever guns and weren't interested. I followed him outside and asked to see it and asked how much. He said he wanted $250 for it.
Didn't blink an eye and told him I'd take it.
Rifle is in immaculate condition.  Wood is perfect, one tiny scratch in the bluing at the ejection port.

Sigh, that makes me miss my Winchester .44Mag that I traded when I was young and more stupid.

Nice snag. Ever think of a career as a highwayman? I think you have what it takes 'cause you made him "Stand and deliver."

Wow, nice. I bought a trapper .44 on another board a few years ago for $240. It is a newer AE but I couldn't pass it up for that price.

Smoking deal!!!

I'd move that front swivel bracket (whatever it's called) back about 5-6".

Yep. Moving the front sling mount back to about an inch in front of the forearm.
Fired it yesterday, the action is smooth as silk. I'm a very happy camper.

I'm glad to hear that. I
I've read so many times that these Winchester rifles have functioning issues with the shorter revolver rounds.

It functions just fine. I have some 44 Special rounds lying around from when I had a Charter Arms Bulldog. May try them for the check of it just to see what it does. Tried them once in my 1894S and they worked fine.

I stumbled across one of these a few months back, but mine is a bit older, and plainer. Luckily, it functions just fine with everything i have run through it so far. Unluckily, however, mine is quite a bit rougher than yours. This will actually be an advantage, however, as chopping it to 16", threading it, and putting a scout rail on it wont really be sacrilege.

I would buy a dozen of them if I could get them at that price.

Damn, $250, did you lube him up first. Good score.

I think I paid $650 for my Trapper model about 5 years ago. Don't shoot it much. Need to break it out sometime.

I have only one shitty picture of mine.

Nice score.  Although not a Winchester I love my Marlin 1894 SS .44 mag.

I have 7 Marlins, in various calibers. Some old some brand new, but none are anywhere near as smooth as my winchester 94ae 44. (2004 model).

Dead nuts accurate right out of the box. None of my marlins were like that.

My all time favorite lever gun. You got an awesome deal on that thing!!

Wow - you stole that thing! Deal of the decade.
