I'm thinking about adding a scope to my marlin 1894 44mag.  Can anyone recommend a mount?

If your looking for a traditional mount DNZ are hard to beat. http://www.amazon.com/Game-Reaper-Marlin-336-Medium-Mount/dp/B001EYH4I2

I have them on my 1894 and 1895 Marlins. The pic is my 1894 44mag.

I used a Warne base and Leupold scope and rings.

Are you still able to use the iron sights with this scope mount?  It doesn't look like you can.

I use a weaver 63B base for mine but be warned, If you are going to use picatinny rings, they will not fit the weaver slots.  The best dremel work I ever did was opening those weaver slots up to accept picatinny rings. 0.190"

In addition to the other suggestions, I'll throw Talley into the ring. They are the nicest mounts/rings I've ever had. Check to see if they make them for the 1894.

*edit - Responding to Dave from my phone*
I don't have the DNZ but from what I've seen the answer is no.

I decided to just keep using the williams peep sight this deer season.

Thanks for all the ideas!

I have had great results with the XS scout mount for red dots and optics.  Fast to mount and does not change the balance or impend the access to the action.   (Carry this rifle often)
