I love the way the big loop looks on the rifle. LET US KNOW HOW IT SHOOTS.

Good for you! Nice prize, sort of like a Guide Gun except easy on recoil. I like the combination of (not too) large loop, laminate stock and short barrel. Add receiver sight or ghost ring and it would be perfect!

I have one in 35 Remington and sometimes deer hunt with it.

Great rifle!  I have several big loop Marlins, most are JM but a couple of REP guns as well.

Could easily become your go to rifle, my 336BL did!

Really like mine, but I'm going to sell or trade it for a lever action in 357 Magnum so I can hunt here in Ohio with it.

Picked it up today.  Cleaned and lubed, will shoot it Monday.

The Good:

- cost me $40
- nice wood, stock fitment
- decent blue job
- handy size, was able to cram it in my gun safe
- not horrible trigger

The Bad:

- crappy rear sight
- trigger flops back and forth for no apparent reason
- "6 shot" magazine only hold 5.75 rounds

The Ugly:

- bad, occasionally horrible stiction when opening the action
- sometimes requires 2 hands to open
- lever has a hard 90 degree edge
- slices up your knuckles every time the lever sticks

Remington strikes again.

Sell tha POS and use the cash to buy a used JM Marlin, assuming you want a lever gun.

The old production Marlins aren't always better.  My dad has one in 35 Remington he bought back in the 60's and it's always been a jam-o-matic.

I think it'll be fine after break-in/polishing the guts and beveling the lever.

Still not bad for $40 My 336Y was a POS too and I paid over $400 for it

Once you work out the kinks they're handy rifles, if a bit heavy for all the bigger they are.

The trigger is normal for Marlins unless you replace with a Wild West trigger.

You got a great gun for shorter range for things like white tail, hogs, and black bear. I've had real good luck with mine since I started using the new hornady lever ammo and got the cabela's scope for this specific round. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer at 200 yards with this gun. Before, with a simmon's scope and the older rounds- not so much.

Shot it today... only at 50 yards, but the sights were on and it grouped well.  Definitely needs a peep sight; buckhorns suck donkey balls.  Action locked up hard a few times and required 2 hands to crack open.

Spoke with the gunsmith at my LGS.  For $100 he'll dehorn and Cerakote the lever and polish up the internals.
