It's the first one I've seen.

If true, the "one of 400 built for MGM" might make sense given the cessation of 1873 manufacture in 1919.  The problem however is that if MGM were looking for a sorta 1873 looking rifle, they could have just ordered the 1892 rifle.  

I'd really want to see some documentation and a factory letter before I'd spend $5k on a model 1892 with an octagon barrel.
