I have been on the lookout for the 18-1/2" 336 with the Texas stock for a while and found this rifle local.
400 was a little more than I would normally pay but it came with an Allen case,3 boxes of ammo, optics and recoil pad.

Any idea how I can get the sweet Simmons scope any higher? LOL I Keed
The first thing I'm doing tonight is taking those awful rings off and ordering some replacement screws for the holes
Anyone have a Midway coupon Code or a 336T/TS ?

Not a horrible deal, actually around here that would be a borderline smokin deal. For some reason the entire used gun market is out of whack around here from what I can tell.

Anyway, nice rifle, I am in the same boat with my 1894. My dad was going to mount a scope on it for some reason and put a base on it, want to take the base off and put the filler screws back in.

I'd say you did good OP. You got $50 worth of ammo and a scope you could probably get $30 for so you got around $320 into the rifle.

I was hoping to sell the scope and rings pluss  cheap case is always good when doing FTF deals. No one ever brings a case

I have a 336 TS

It was in MINT condition and I loaned it to a friend (expected them to take care of it) for 2 days of hunting.

Got it back with the stock in all sorts of fucked up ( finish chipped off in 5 different spots) SO PISSED and disappointed.
Never loaning another gun again. Since my plan was to refinish the stock, I was going to add a Peep sight...there was a rail
mounted on mine and the previous owner put locktite on the screws that mount to the receiver fucked up one of the screws,
NOW I am looking for a screw for the receiver

Honestly, since I bought my TS I havent seen one since at gunshows. Now If I can find a receiver screw, my baby will be back

Here are the factory screws at Midway USA . I went ahead and got 5 since I was paying shipping plus a Buck Eye to replace one of  mine where bubba mounted a sling swivel.

ETA: use code NRASHOW2 for 10.00 of a 50.00 order

If you need filler screws for the receiver on your Marlin, you can get them from Junior. Great guy to deal with too.

Guys, with the 336TS model.....Do you think it would be wiser to put a peep sight on or a scope? I know it's personal preference, but I'm just going in circles.

I have several "deer" rifles: 30-30, 45-70 (peep), 30-06, 25-06, and a 308. I usually use the 06 and if I want to drop the meat hammer, I use the 45-70.

It use to have a cheap, 1x4 scope that I couldnt shoot a 3" group with (50 yards), hence why I took it off. Now, in limbo

Congrats on the Texan!
I have an 1969 model. One of my most accurate 30-30's I have.

Lol I think I'm up to 6 336 30-30 rifles. My levers are outnumbering my EBR's now
SS and a 1951 waffle top

ya when you get hooked on lever guns one is never enough. I had to try a quick count...6 Marlins, 14 Winchesters and 3 Browning's. Ten of them are 30-30's.
Addiction comes to mind lol
