THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT ETA: Nevermind - the guys over at Marlin Owners tell me that he new style is functional as a replacement. I'll fiddle with it this weekend to see if there was any advantage to the original style. ![]() |

I've tuned a bunch of Marlins for Cowboy Shooting......I've seen only 2 of those.
The newer replacements will work fine. |

I never got an answer from Marlin Tech Service. All I can think of is that it it put some side pressure on the bolt....maybe to guide it into or out of battery. But at the speeds some Cowboy shooters can run a Marlin it's simpler to run a shorter (new spring) then to bother with the older complex spring. From my point of view the bolt doesn't care.

The longer (older) one works fine, The shorter, new version also works fine in my old 1894c... I put the old one aside to keep it intact and use the new replacement currently. |
