THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have a 9422 that I would like to put a peep sight on. Anyone have any suggestions? I hate the standard buckhorns.

I was looking at the Williams line since it seems like a tang mounted peep would be in the way... I've never used one, I'm just thinking out loud. Also, will the front sight need to be changed?

Finally, Are the front sight hoods the same as on the centerfire 94s? I was told they were, but want to verify. The 9422 I have is missing the front hood, and all I could find are for the 94.

I ended up with the Williams receiver peep that mounts via the scope mounting grooves on top of the receiver, so no additional holes to install it. It DID require a taller front sight. The one I had laying around taken off a B-92 was just right, but doesn't work with a hood.
I had a tang sight on it before that and the original front sight worked just fine with it, but I decided I didn't care to have that area of the grip cluttered up on something I carry around much.

As for the front sight hood, if there's any difference, I've never noticed it while putting them on and off 94s, a 64A and the 9422 without any regard as to which one came off what rifle.

I ended up ordering a hood for a 94, and a Williams that will need to have the receiver D&Ted. I'm not sure if that will me as tall as the groove mounted type. Any idea how much taller the front sight you used was compared to the stock one?

If you like a serrated ramp like I do, you can just get a Brockman's Marlin front sight insert and file it down to fit. It fits in the front dovetail. It is available from Brownell's.

It's not going to need to be as tall (if necessary to change out at all) with the rear you've chosen, but the front sight I went to measures about .462" from the flat bottom of the sight's base to the very top.
