I can't stand it anymore. I have too many rifles with pistol grips and large optics that do not fit nicely in my small safe that I need to upgrade. Combine that with SBRs and suppressors and it is simply not fun getting things from my safe.

What line of safes offer the most modularity, adjustable height shelves for really short guns, and maybe even door storage for scoped rifles? I'd like to be able to get to any gun in my safe without having to move 10 more to get to it.

You need a secure room, not a safe.

Unfortunately until I build my house, a retrofit secure/fireproof room is out of the question.

Of course a room under a precast garage floor with a vault door my be in my future, right now that isn't going to happen.

i'm in the process of order a custom summit safe...  they have a pretty slick organization system for long guns.

The Browning series of safes have quite a but of modularity and a nice door system.

A nice setup I saw once in a big safe was to remove all the shelving and stick in a set of what looked like armory racks (maybe a bit closer side-side than typical armory racks).  Full racks bolted down in the back (IIRC, 2 stacked), with removeable cut racks in front.  The safe appeared to hold 30+ ARs, many with optics, all organized and properly stacked, with the front ones in armory accessible positions.

ah gun Jenga, the least satisfying kind of Jenga...  have less guns or get a bigger safe.

there are a few safes that have door storage for long guns or long gun racks mounted on slide outs.   I changed out one side of my safe to the U shaped rack.  Again it might hold less guns, but you can actually get to them.

I just went the big safe route.  SBR's on the left, MSR's and shorter rifles in the middle, and shotguns and other longer guns on the right.

That's a nice arrangement.
What brand/model/size safe do you have?

Safes are only designed for 10/22s with no scope, didn't you know that?

+1 I need a big safe for my safe room.

Buy a TL safe, remove shelves, customize to YOUR collection to optimize layout, done.

I can't remember seeing these safes before, ran across them on a local forum recently. They are made here in MN. I've been wanting to design a slider of some type, they beat me to it.

They've actually been around for a very long time.  Long before any gun safe manufacturer thought of it.

That still looks like it is for hunting rifles. Scoped pistol grip guns are what is giving me problems. That and sbr's that are smaller than some handguns.

I do like some of the browning safe internals. I think the best course if action might just be a huge safe.

+1

Thats what I did as well, took me a couple of weekends to get the safe configured the way I wanted to...cutting the gun racks and gluing automotive carpet to them is time consuming.

But now it is the way I want.

if only, I think every safe vendor keeps 5 dozen Stevens single shot 22s and Winchester 37s in .410 to rate safe capacity.

It is a Superior Ironside 95.  I think they stopped making the 95 a couple of years ago.  I got one of the last ones.  And I think the new Ironside series uses thinner steel all around.  This one is 10 gauge steel and a 3/8" plate door.

Dimensions are 66" × 78.25" × 32" and it weighs 2,000 lbs.

^this is the only answer.

Any safe is turned into a miracle of organization.

SBR, PDW, 16", 20", all weapons fit in the same section of the safe when using the rifle rods.

It's also easy to move rifles around.

They are also cheap.

Thanks.
I have never seen a gun safe with that type of compartments with straight up walls.
Still,a very nice arrangement.

I just bought the SecureIt brand set up, a bit pricey but works well for me. They have a few different ones; the RAPID 6 is adjustable for each rifle's height, and much more useful that the GUARD 6 which has one bar straight across. They are out of stock now, but I got mine on amazon for a lot less than msrp.

Buy a safe with no interior.  Make your own with plywood, contact cement, and marine grade carpet..  It isn't that hard.

Most safes can be purchased with no interior.  They can also be purchased with cheap paint to save a buck.

Funny I have a mechanical drawing on my desk similar to that.  I plan to redesign my interior at some point.

Rifle Rods are the best solution for modern rifles.

For increased capacity, rifle rods are the answer, but rifle rods just let you pack more stuff into the safe, they do nothing about being able to get a gun out without having to remove 20 other rifles...

The slide out racks are the best solution for access.

Rifle rods are be a temporary solution to the problem of not having a big enough safe, but they are just as much of a pain when you need to get something out of the back...

Anybody know if slide out racks are available separately?  It's just a pain to access all my rifles. Seems like no matter if I put the ones I think I am going to use the most in the front, I inevitably want to get the one in the back out next time.

Here are a couple of pictures. I used 16" pantry slide outs. The rifles are staggered on either side to accommodate the pistol grips. The rack is built out of solid maple using pocket screws. The black barrel protector is vinyl base molding cut to fit. If you have any questions let me know. I am making a dual rack for my buddy.

You may check out Browning Prosteel safes. Far from a TL30 safe but their interior organizer is awesome. Their door organizer can hold 11-13 long guns (some with scopes)
