When I built my house, I had Cat6 run to multiple places on the exterior, along with 110V outlets.

I would like to put in place some 1080P cameras, along with IR illuminators.

Does anybody have any experience with these cameras?

Dome Cam

Bullet Cam

I already have a Cisco 2960C 12 port PoE switch ready to go. I also have multiple old computers (including an old Quad core) that I can use for the DVR.

I think mostly I just need an opinion on the cameras linked above. The price won't break the bank.

I can't find the cameras I had saved a few weeks back which are true PoE. These use the exact same CMOS sensor. I, of course, would use the version of this camera that takes PoE instead of 12v. IIRC, it was slightly more costly.

Can't tell what brand those are, and they're from a German seller so returning them could be challenging.

I'd probably just get a 3mp Hikvision from Nellys

Having said that.... I'm just learning bat all of this stuff.

Look at Lorex, They were bought by FLIR last year. You can buy directly from Lorex and Costco has some setups. I purchased mine from Costco. They Had exactly the set up I wanted and the price was great. You can also download an app so that it can be viewed remotely and you can also control the PTZ.

FLIR even has some really decent 1MP - 3MP IP cameras for good price as well.

Hikvision.

The amount of features you get from the $100 rivals the $600 ones. Check out the surveillance thread in the survival forum for reviews.

Eta, they have built in webserver in each camera also, so you can log directly into them, hook them up to a dvr, or have them write to a nas
