Had an IP camera start malfunctioning recently, would not switch mechanically from day to night lenses making it completely useless in low light conditions.
Rebooted, tried adjusting some settings.... it was on and still functioning otherwise..
About five years old so I figured it was just it's time.
Ordered a new 3mp outdoor cam for my garage and planned on using the current garage cam as the replacement for the malfunctioning one..
Now I have recently been updating all my old cat 5 rj45 connectors to actual 2 piece cat 6 connectors and also adding stress reliefs to them.... and had replaced both ends on the camera that "went bad"... so I was pretty confident that it wasn't a connection issue.... considering it had worked for some time after the replaced connectors were installed...
Well, I installed the new garage cam, then took the old garage cam and installed it in the location of the dead cam.
SAME ISSUE.
Took my crimping tool and re-crimped both cat 6 rj45 connectors on each end of the line.
The connector on at the switch end was the culprit.
The new garage camera is very nice though!
