What's out there for a single carbine?
Already own a safe, looking for something to stow a single ar15.

Mechanical locking mechanism preferred over electronic.

V-Line has some. They are 16 gauge though. They have Simplex lock, which is nice.

Priced nice. Seems to be real mixed reviews online. Any have experience with these?

I have one. Simplex locks are great for quick access. The 16 gauge steel is pretty much just to keep guns out of the hands of kids. You could probably open it with a large screwdriver.

Still, I don't know of alternatives for that kind of thing.

I use it to keep a single rifle and pistol for home defense. I wouldn't store more than that in it.

People say RSC are not really secure, blah blah blah. The fact is, my gun safe with 3/8 inch plate door and 10 gauge body is pretty secure unless someone has a Sawz-All or circular saw with special blade.

This V-Line thing is not very secure and any small crowbar would destroy it just by looking at it. Still, it is very fast to open, and you are responsibly storing the guns.

Another option is the Secure It Fast Box, but it looks like the newer models only have electronic locks.

Bolt it to your hardwood floor, and when you sell the house, use wood filler to fill the holes. I am tempted to do that but I have radiant heat and it would suck to pierce a water line.

There used to be a company called R&D Enterprises that made awesome pistol safes with Simplex locks. If they made a rifle model, it would be perfect for this application. But they never did.

I have at least four R&D Enterprises units. Their doors were 1/4 inch and the bodies 3/16. I cherish them. The quality is obvious. This was their old website:
