It would be nice to spend some time comparing the weights of, say, Liberty, AMSEC and Brown's comparable models to see how dense the composite/fireproofing is.

liberty only uses drywall for fire protection.

brown says the fire protection increases the weight of their HD 7224 safe from 890lbs  to 2350lbs.

And that drywall, which does nothing as far as burglary protection, is more than half the weight of the safe.  I just calculated out a 990 pound Presidential, and came up with about 530 pounds worth of drywall.  So your 990 pound, top of the line safe, is really only a 490 pound safe.

it looks like brown is aiming at taking amsec's BF line head on with the HD series.

doesn't look like amsec has anything comparable to the tactical series.

I believe Brown has been building these high security gun safes for longer than AMSEC has been building the BF series.  They have simply redone their website and revamped their previous offerings a bit.
