From a more general/philosophical perspective, you can conceptualize your perimeter security plan in 5 topics:

1.  Deter:   The outermost perimeter.  Visual deterrence such as fencing, lighting, and signs
2.  Delay:   Parking controls, and vehicle barriers
3.  Detect:  Perimeter Intrusion Detection systems and CCTV
4.  Deny:    Access control devices
7.  Defend: The innermost ring.  Actively repel/apprehend intruders.

Idaho Power has a program that they will install a LED power pole street light (provided you have a power pole on your property) free but you will pay $9.00 a month. I had one installed at the street of my home and 2 at commercial locations directed at my buildings/home and it made a hell of a difference in lighting.
May check with your local power provider to see if there is a similar program.
