Whats everyone using for door locks? I need to either rekey or replace my door locks and would like something pretty secure but I have a lot of windows. Is there much difference between manufacturers? My thought is good deadbolts, shatter guard or similar windows and the door jamb armor. After that I'll move to more external lighting and DVR cameras and finally a dog.

I was looking a bit more at lock brands and types. Electric keypad vs keyed lock, free spin cylinders and the like.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for.

I have Schlage locks at my house.

If you want to find something that is bump-proof, then you there are some brands out there:

I use BiLocks also. I have one key that operates my entry doors, storm doors, file cabinets, and padlocks.

Medeco, Abloy, BiLock, Mul-T-Lock all a little pricey but excellent locks. The way to do it is to buy top quality and take them with you when you move. Just put a new 10 buck deadbolt on the door if you need to move.

You can spend a TON of money on locks, but there's usually a much easier way for someone to get into your house. Kick in a door, break a window etc. I'm not sure I I don't think I've ever actually heard of anyone actually bumping or picking a lock to break into someone's home. I'd spend the extra you would have spent on high dollar locks to beef up the weak jambs and things of that nature.
