Next time I'll shop around until I can find one already set to the right channel. What kind of motion detector do you have? Can you show pics? |

What's the range on these? I'm looking into motion detectors with an in house alarm but need to cover an area roughly 100 yards in straight line distance.
Side note, wouldn't you want different alarms so you know which one was tripped? |

The stated range is 400 ft. No idea if it goes that far or not. The antenna wire is easy to find if you open it up, so should be easy to improve range if necessary.
Both motion detectors cover the back yard, I don't need to know what part as I'm not going out to look for them. One alarm is fine. |

I have one of these units covering my front gate, about 100 ft. from the receiver. Works well.
Sometimes, a car going out will not be detected if it's "cold soaked" so as to make it invisible. Not really a problem. These units are cheap enough that I have a spare set in case of failure. It's good to know about the hack, and you can pick out units with matching frequencies. |

400 feet - not really. I have one and it gets set off by things not seen, like sunlight and moon light and even the occasional critter. I tried it at 100 yards, no go, have it about 50-75 yards away and it is happy to give the alarm when a deer wanders by. PSA - don't set it up in the Sunday 5:00 am deer crossing area.

Why not hack better antennas for it ––-should be easy.
