Roll them along by using old steel pipes. Tip the safe just enough to slide a length of pipe underneath, allow safe to roll across.
Also the golfball method. Several golfballs under safe, roll away. |

Golfballs and pipe do poorly on carpet. If the safes are less than 1,000 pounds, and you're on old carpet already, just slide them. It is easier to walk them each side a little at a time than it is to slide the entire thing at once.

I had a small patch of carpet in our hall way from the Garage. I laid down several of the USPS large moving boxes all folded up. And using a ratchet tow strap, just tugged the thing over the carpet.
hen I was back on tile, and used the same boxes to slide it thru the house. On the carpet, i put about 6 boxes end to end, and the safe as I was pulling went from box to box. I put the tow strap low on the safe, and just tugged. The boxes overlapped enough it helped slide from one to the next. Safe was about 800lbs. Moved from garage, up a step, over the threshold, over the carpet, onto tile, over another threshold into an office bedroom with laminate wood floors. |

Go to home depot and get a $10.00 pack of furniture sliders. I moved a thousand pound safe 60 feet by
myself and you can reuse the sliders. |

My safe weighs 1800 lbs. Any tips on moving that. I have moved an 600 lbs safe on a dolly no problem but need ideas on my big boy.

Thin sheets of Teflon work wonders when moving things like safes. You can slide literal tons on Teflon.
A cheap method for 1,000lb safes or less is to get an old straw broom with a wooden handle. No cheap kitchen brooms. Tip the safe up enough to shove the bristles of the broom under. Now tip the safe back towards yourself and drag it along with the broom while supporting it with your other arm. |

PVC pipe is much easier than steel pipe or golf balls. It's what I've used a couple times for my 800 lb safe. However, I've never had a problem sliding safes on carpet, so maybe that's not even needed. |

Golf balls worked just fine on my carpet and my 900lb safe was much easier to turn and swivel in place so I could line it up right. PVC worked well too but it takes some extra planning if you have adjustments to make along the way.
