I can't tell from the pics much about the spacing- if they kept simialr spacing but staggered the rows I think you'd lose some "move it a little left or right" flexibility. If they added offset rows between the existing ones, you gain some flexibility and that is a great improvement. http://www.gallowtech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/packages.jpg http://www.dlsweaponsystems.com/images/HD-EWR-80_M4.jpg It appears to my eyes that the columns of holes are closer, but every only every other one is usable for a pure left/right shift. And the vertical spacing is definitely much wider. If they're cheaper (the EWS stuff is very costly) and doing the absolute most space-efficient layout is not a critical need, the new stuff looks like a great alternative. I think this it what Im going to end up with. They are pretty reasonably priced and look clean. We had purchased a DLS system when I was in charge of my departments armory. Very nice and easy to assemble and solid as a rock. I've never seen the Gallow Tech system, but it looks pretty sweet looking on the web. |

I did read back a bit, but more details please. I like it! View Quote Yes it is a standard option door. That is my personal door that will go on my vault room. It is our larger door built for an 82x48" rough opening. In-swing with black chrome hardware. Electronic lock standard. It is truly a beast, consisting of a 10 gauge (1/8") jacket, fire protection, a full-door 3/8" steel plate in the door, and 7 gauge (3/16") Armaknox AR500 plate liner in the door and frame. The 8248 doors are imposing and massive. Weight is 1579 before adding the AR500, tips the scales at just under a ton now. I am ALMOST dreading the install. Almost. Color is Mercedes Silver with a carbon fiber performance stripe logo for a ghost graphic effect. (logo was custom since it is bigger than the performance stripe we put on our vaults -but I have done it on other vault doors since then as well) AR500 liner is an upgrade option on all of our vaults and vault doors. Stainless Steel liners are also available to inhibit cutting torches, but I skipped it on this door in favor of the AR500 for anti-drilling and ballistic protection. Call me when you are ready for your door and we will get you taken care of, Repeat customers and ARFCOMMERS get a solid discount. |

In essence you get a safe within a safe. We also can do multiple liners of steel, AR500 or stainless steel. |

MSRP on vault doors starts at about $4250.00 and above depending on options. With a standard E-lock, Fort Knox quality and fire resistance, and at 1300+ pounds for the smaller ones (82x40"), you get a lot for your dollar.
Unfortunately, most of the cost of a safe is in the door, the metal box is cheap. All in all, they run about the price of a mid-range Fort Knox Vault, with the difference being full control of the size and layout of your space behind the door. |

Our doors are designed to be installed after all of the concrete work is done and cured, including the top. In my case that door is been done for months (that picture is from October) and it sat in a crate in my foundation until my house was built over it. Should get time to install it between Christmas and New Year's depending on if I can get some guys from my shop to muscle it into place.

I had a few issues with concrete/water runoff onto my door when they poured the cap. Not to mention the insane amount of humidity and moisture that room had when I was finally able to open the door after the cap was poured. It was like a damn rain room. I spen a lot of time wet sanding and buffing the front of the door to try and get the water/concrete run marks out of it. |

The wall in the first pic will be home for the presses, but I still need a place for a separate workstation, desk for computer and monitors etc. The short wall nearest the door will have the Gallowtech wall racks on it. So Ive got 2 walls to work with. |
