This is where I keep some of my guns:

The AR's spend their time in the safe unless I'm headed to the range with them.

Dude I know Surefire batteries are pricey but keeping them in the safe. Nice set up man. Love the OCD'ness of the bench. You have inspired me.

Ya, Just a little OCD  not to bad, you don't have to see anyone yet.  I like to see well organized benches and tool chests, you know where everything is..  I don't see an excel spreadsheet of all your parts hanging up tho brother.

A little more work, some trim put up. The walls will get stained the same red/brown that the trim is stained after I get the rest of the trim and shelves up.

Just curious. Is that a room with a steel door or just a spare area?

It's a glass block like they sell at Home Depot. I've seen those, but how did you get the logo on it?  Is it etched?

On the guns you mean? I switch out the lights on different rifles for different uses. For example, generally I'll use my X300 Ultra but if I go hog hunting I'll use an IR light instead. I often have to loan out a rifle or an IR light to friends when we go so I have the extra lights for that. Plus I have spare lights that I may want to use instead of the X300 or an IR depending on what I'm doing.

It's no sweat off my balls I'm just happy I can finally put together a nice room that I can actually organize all of my stuff in. I'd had a room for it all before but then we had an addition to our family so we had to make room for her. This was just an extra corner in the basement that was unfinished. I figure how better to decorate than with guns?

When I'm done I'll have a rack for all of the other guns that I don't want on the display wall which will free up room in my closet for me to build a shoe rack for the wife. My HF, vhf, ht's, and scanners will be in there, the monitor and dvr for the security cameras will also go in there, and my photography equipment will have a space in there as well.

I'm gonna set all of the radios and monitor up in a cabinet I've been working on that will sit on the end of one of the counter tops that will have a sliding access door that doubles as a back bar. Purely for aesthetics, it'll be skinned out in oak as well to keep everything flowing. Under that space I have a cubby for my mini fridge and a line tapped in from my RODI filter for my reef tank that I can use to make ice with.

This whole room flows in right under my staircase where I'll store my gear (armor, helmets, chest rigs, gloves, etc...) in an organized shelving system that can be closed up and hidden from view (again, aesthetics) with an oak skinned wall. Right now that side of the room is completely unfinished so I've not been showing it. When I get these three walls and cabinets done then I'll move on to that wall.

I am also trying to finalize a design for a steel door that I want to build for the room. Once that's done and in place I can finish all the trim. The room is also fed electrically with its own sub panel with everything being sectioned off how I want it on different breakers. I still have to wire in some lights in the ceiling before I stuff it with roxol and rock it in to make the room more quiet from the upstairs racket and providing fire resistant insulation. The final touch will be a fire flue in the AC ducting so in case of a fire it'll shut down the duct work.

It may not be "perfect" in the end but it's way better than a poke in the eye...

Hi Everyone,

My dad, brother and I are almost done with our vault - We've found a bunch of great ideas here and wanted to post some pictures of ours.

My dad didn't want to post them under his account because people might know where it is, so he said I could create an account and post these pics.

We have (HAD) a very large garage - It has a 2 car garage door, but runs down the entire length of the house and is the size of a 5 car garage.

The area we chose to build the vault was in a corner that had a fridge, bikes, a huge 4 person Sea-Doo, and a LOT of shelves.

I can't find any pictures of it prior to removing all of that stuff, but here is one of the area all cleaned out:

First we had to move all the stuff and pull down all the shelving, then we had to re-route the icemaker line and the outlet for the fridge on that back wall - You can see the wire and pipe coming out of the bottom right.

There was an outlet on the side wall that we capped off, and an intercom and speaker volume switch on the wall where the fridge was that had to be moved too.
Link Posted: 3/28/2016 2:37:00 PM EDT
[#35]
The room is 8 x 16 and it took a LOT of blocks and rebar:

Blocks

Rebar went in every other tube and 2 sticks horizontal every other layer - this is just some of it - more came later.

Test fit / marking and drilling the slab.

More drilling.

More drilling.

First 3 layers.

About as far as they got the first day.  All tubes eventually filled with concrete - more on that later.

Link Posted: 3/28/2016 2:54:27 PM EDT
[#36]
More hard work:

These guys cleaned it all up at the end of each day - They didn't understand English, we had to relay everything through the boss,
But they were hard workers!

One of the things that they messed up was not filling every tube with concrete - they did every other one (Just the tubes with rebar)
We tried to tell them when it was low and easy, but they didn't get it - So by the time it was relayed from their boss back to them, they had to fill the empty tubes from almost all the way at the top!
Link Posted: 3/28/2016 3:03:30 PM EDT
[#37]
More Pics:

You can see by the wet tubes, they were still filling every other one

Plumbing and electrical for the fridge redirected

Insulation Up

Plans for the frame of the hidden door that will cover the vault door

The rectangular plate on the left middle will be held by a huge electromagnet that will be controlled by a hidden reed switch (Swipe a magnet by it to open)

Leveling the floor

Drop Ceiling in

This is the storage system we got for the inside

Vault door time

We went with the AMSEC vault door with the alarm system, duress code, and backup power options installed.
We added 16 heat sensors and 2 vibration sensors to the inside of the door.

Cabinets!

These cabinets are not there now - I'll get newer pics of the inside soon

some more of the electrical, and we moved the NVR in here.

This was for ammo storage, but it's also been move out now

Vault door almost done!

Early look at hidden door:

Hidden door open - That's the big electro magnet on the left edge

Wow. I'll be looking at these for awhile. Looks incredible and I like a lot of the details. I will say I haven't seen a collection before with so many duplicates in rifles and pistols. Very Nice collection and certainly some great SBR candidates.

As I was scrolling down I was curious what you would use for the walls and it wasn't a surprise to see gallowtech. Looks awesome.

Edit: in the last picture what is the small tube coming out of the wall about 3.5 feet up?

That was a last minute add when they were doing the walls - It was going to be a drain line for a dehumidifier on a shelf, but we connected the room to the central heat and air of the house, so it never got used.

We might use it for a future HAM radio antenna line - it goes out to the back yard.
