Hello,

I wanted to get some opinions. I have a Sig 556 Classic and for years it was one of my go-tos. Its been 100% since day one and I always liked the looks of the handguards. I went and bought the Sig 522 as a trainer to go along with my 556 Classic. Well long story short I got sick of look and lack of customization and was going to sell gun. I changed my mind and decided to give it a make over. I sold off my Sig handugards and bought a Sampon Quad Rail. Understand. There are only 3 options that I can find in the world. Factory handguards, Sampson handguards and Troy handguards. They are all hard to find and all expensive. The Troy is a quad rail too and would cause me to lose my Sampson front folding sight set up and I don't want that.

The Sampson handguard has a nice solid lock up which I like and its a nice change but I don't want a quad rail. Quad rails are ancient technology. Much thinner, lighter, more function handugards now exist but none of them are for this gun. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE WEIGHT of this gun now. It's awful! I don't know where to go from here. I was thinking about trying to find a gunsmith or machine shop to mill off all the rails. Would that be ridiculously expensive? Any other ideas? Perhaps a custom fit to something? Looking for a website to browse or number to call. Opinions welcome!

Thanks
Jason

It will cost money, weaken the handguard, and not make it that much lighter.

So go for it. It will be someone unique for you.
