so getting the mpx barrel cut....

when everyone says 4.5 thats the handguard. and i assume the barrel itself is 4.0

now the 4.0 is that from end to end of the barrel or from receiver end to muzle?

i hope im making sense..


for example.

this particular picture hes showing 3inches



so would that be considered 3.5 from end to end?

i just want to cut my barrel and have the handguard the standard 4.5 but i want the barrel shoulder to be about an inch behind the handguard end. so i was thinking that would be 3.5

Depends on what mood the ATF is in at the moment on measuring.  Generally you stick a rod down the barrel on a closed bolt to measure from bolt face to the 4" mark.  Most people measure using that method

So I did some measuring. Seems like people measure mostly from the spot where it shows in the picture to the muzzle.

The actual barrel extends about an inch more when you actually look at it.
