Not the quietest can but it takes the edge off. I like it and it seems to handle full auto pretty good

Here are a few cellphone pics of the conversion kit.

Note the sliding bar that works as a full-auto trip.

It thus appears that other than the (not available yet for actual sale) adaptor that provides for safely using the MCX upper on an AR15/M16 lower, I'd only need the "sliding bar" to enable full auto fire with the MCX upper on my M16 lower.

Has anyone tried to see if a RDIAS will fit in the MPX lower?

It is simply an extension that catches against the notch on the bottom of the bolt carrier.  As the carrier goes into battery the "hook" part trips the auto sear.

Sorry, I realize now my question was too vague. I know what it is and how it works, I want to know if this is a factory piece or something you made, if not where did you get it. I've been searching for a MCX pistol in 300, i'd really like the combo barrel set. Because I haven't been able to find one I don't actually own one yet, but the money is allocated.

Yes. As DSully said, this is a factory installed sear actuator. It is help in by two pins and should be fairly easy to remove for repairs/maintenance or remove per department policy or whatever.

Will it be available for civilians? Good question.

Just took the new MCX 556 to the range today for the first time. First magazine at 25 yards testing the gun from the table put a group together you could fit under a quarter. Second mag everything went to hell. Couldn't make a group come together at all, gun was all over the place 4-6" at 25 yards. Tired xm193 m855 American eagle 223 nothing would group. Pulled the hand guard thinking the barrel must be loose, no luck. Removed the optic and went to irons, same results, had another shooter try, same results. Grabbed my MPX to see if I had just lost my mind and stacked 15 rounds in a 1" group.  Before I get it home and take the gun apart, are there any known issues I need to check first?

Couple previous owners on M4Carbine.net have reported accuracy issues too. I don't know if they figured anything out regarding the issue.

Some folks over on SigTalk are saying when the barrel heats up the dispersion gets real bad. How fast did you dump that first mag?

I've often wondered if Sig needed a slightly heavier profile on the barrel.

I had accuracy issues out of the box. Sent it back to Sig and got it back in less than 2 weeks. They replaced the bbl and even remounted my Gentech QD mount for me. Accuracy is right on and as accurate as my ARs. I did swap out the factory thin stock for the collapsible stock. Way better for me. The thin stock moved around on my shoulder while the collapsible/folding stock does not as it has a wider butt pad. Better cheek weld as well. Geiselle SSA helped a lot as well.

Have not fired since but barrel was tight. Beta test on Thursday and with a fellow competent shooter.

Just ordered an MCX. I was looking at the sig site hoping to find parts kits, but didn't see any. Does anyone know if they have any coming? Or if I was going to order parts individually, which would be key to have on hand?

Thanks

He's just kidding on the July 2025, doubtful it will be before 2030.

But seriously you might as well call and get on the backorder list. Doesn't cost you anything as they won't charge your card until its ready to ship. Depending on who you talk to and which day you will get a different answer on when to expect them. I've heard as soon as mid December to maybe next summer. At this point I would probably put the over/under betting odds at July 2017. I would still take the over.

I've used different optics from different companies and Aimpoint has always been my top choice. I just haven't used Sig Optics enough to choose them over Aimpoint. I can't personally say how good they are only because I don't have any time with them. I may, in the future, start messing with them but for now...  I'm Aimpoint when it comes to red dot.

I shoot a mixture of both suppressed and unsuppressed in my 9" MCX. Yet to have a failure. Being nutnfancy he probably messed with it or fed it ammo that wasn't loaded properly. After his derp with Larue he shouldn't be taken seriously.

Anyone else have a broken charging handle yet? The ambi linkage in mine broke somehow so one side would not activate the other, requiring both sides to be depressed simultaneously to pull the CH back. The CH always seemed a little flimsy to me and is my one complaint with the rifle so far. It should be noted I probably only have 500-1000 rounds through mine.

I called Sig which was a pleasure actually. Within 5 minutes I had a new CH on the way for free and it arrived today (maybe one week later). The replacement appears externally to be exactly the same which is not confidence inspiring. I wish Sig would redesign it or someone would make an aftermarket one.

It was reinstalled incorrectly. You can see that the other rod isn't inserted into the cap, it's resting in the spring channel:

(sorry was attempting to respond to the broken MCX post but I don't have the hang of the buttons yet :)

Welcome. I suspect this to be the cause as well. It would be nice to see those caps made out of something other than plastic. Should be an easy piece to machine.

I suspect we'll see the Gen 2 MCX with a metal cap.

We're already at Gen2 with the new gas system.

Dsully since you have an MPX and MCX, can you tell us if the metal recoil spring clip on the MPX can be used to replace the plastic clip on the MCX?

Anybody else know if this is possible?

I was trying to have an accepting attitude towards a parts failure and keep an open mind when I started the video. After watching I think that had to be the cause, improper reassembly. Is there even enough play in the guide rod channel in the upper for the guide rod to have unseated from the cap and released the recoil spring?
