Does the 516 use the same bolt as the 556xi?

I am assuming the pistons are different, is this correct?

(My 516 is in NFA jail, I was just curious...)

No.  The 516 uses an AR type multi-lug bolt while the 556xi uses an AK style bolt with two big lugs.  The 556xi has some compatibility with the 556, but the 516 is completely different.

If I had to guess I'd put the parts compatibility between the 556XI and 516 at:

  1. Magazines

  2. Muzzle Devices

  3. Rail Mounted Accessories

The 516 is an AR type rifle, and the 556 is a Sig 550 type rifle.
