The barrel on the 551-2SP Swat is only 14.3 inches long, that is put on by Michael's Machines to get it over 16 inches. It can be removed without damaging the barrel.

I want your job whatever that is. Then I could buy toys without the golden ring overruling me!

Pfft. I am a lowly GS4 that makes about $17 an hour and haven't gotten a raise in over 4 years. My wife on the other hand makes more than I do and covers most of the bills.

I get to spend my money on guns and guns is about all I spend my money on.

Like Joe said, it is the "3 gun"

However I've tried to convert it, as close as I can, to being the same package that's pictured on the site.

Installed Magpul UBR, MOE grip, and BADASS ambi safety (factory was left side only)

Very cool. I hadn't even heard about a "3 gun" version. I thought PM when I saw it too.

I wonder why the different designation? Unless one competes in heavy metal class, shooting 3 gun with a 308 is not particularly advantageous.

Pretty damn cool looking 716 either way though. I love my 716 patrol and it shoots much more accurately than I would have thought, but the one thing I wish it had was a longer handguard like yours. Since I shoot it off the bench more like a precision gun, I would rather it be set up more like one. it looks kind of strange with it's 16" barrel sticking way out from those carbine handguards.

I have always wanted the original version SIG posted on their web site.

You can take the SHR 970 and 516 off that list though as I no longer own them. But in their place you can add, 716, and SSG 3000.

Not much too look at, but it's all mine. It also caused me to go out and put a 556R Swat and 556 SBR on layaway. The Swat is almost paid off and outta jail. the SBR is gonna be awhile

Sig 556R Gen II with SureFire G6 in a Thorntail mount and a VTAC Padded sling.  556R was Cerakoted with Sig Dark Grey (receivers) and OD Green (furniture) by a local smith. Mags are (10)  Waffle, Finnish M63 mag (factory OD) and Korean 20 rd.

ETA: this is a paint job only. I have NOT messed with the markings (don't want some blogger starting a blog post saying I'm trying to hoax someone)

Not possible. There's significant differences in he monoblock/trunion, ejector, brass deflector, ejection port, and dustcovers. The whole upper receiver is similar but heavily modified to work with multiple calibers and user-swappable barrels.
