I will be moving here in a few months and want to know the procedure for changing address and possibly company name. I am a FFL/SOT as a scorp. I see where in the past writing a letter gets the FFL address changed so is that still correct and what address do I send the letter? Also I would like to change the name of the scorp and was thinking after the move might be wise. I would think just changing the name and staying the same entity type should not be to painful but did not want to move and change the name at the same time might get a bit confusing. Thanks

You fill out a Form 5300.38




A change in business structure (changing to corp, LLC or different S corp) or just name?
If just name you list it as an assumed name (also called a DBA) on that form.
If the business is changing name due to ownership changes or structure.......you'll have to apply for a new FFL.





ATF wants the Form 5300.38, not a letter. Address is on that form.

For your SOT you will need to re-submit ATF Form 5630.7 (box 17. b.) with your new address.  You do not need to send them any money.  Send email to [email protected].   I just went through this and had my updated SOT in about 7 business days.
