Gun store POS recommendations

Just got my license last week and one of the last items to nail down is a solid point of sale system to put in my store. What do you guys think works best? Cost is of slight concern, but I'm willing to pay extra for something that saves me time and hassle. Also, what credit card processing unit/companies are you using? I already got a flyer in the mail from Electronic Transfer Inc. Did some research and they seem to have decent reviews.

Any input would be appreciated.

Whichever you decide.... get one that's PC based and from which you can access the internet. SO much more handy when you can look stuff up from the terminal (for those pesky customer questions) rather than having to go to a separate device.

CC I went through Costco. always nice to have a big company with pull backing and checking that the processor is doing it right.

POS system, how much are you planning to do in sales a year? Is it worth it?

Quickbooks point of sale would be a starting point. But it's not really tailormade fore anything specifically.

Good point, I definitely want something that will run off a Windows OS.

I plan on having quite a bit of inventory eventually, also with a very good chance of having a second or even third store within 5 years. I'm somewhat working in conjunction with an already established company that has 2 store locations. I'm starting in their main store now but plans include expansion into the second one.

Dell POS solutions are good and will come with the support you will need as your business grows. You can use Intuit products and have them customize it to your business needs.

So it turns out Intuit is extremely anti-gun. Don't want to do business with them. That's a shame too, they had a nice complete POS system with scanner, cc reader, and everything.

Most companies are.....

I use Quicken POS and it sucks BAD! But I havent been able to find anything else that works any better. Everything else is either several thousand dollars or you pay a monthly plan. And its not cheap either.

F2F Firearms sales are fine. They don't allow mail order sales. That's actually how a lot of processors are. My webstore just lost our payment gateway last week for this reason.

I'm surprised costco let you use them. They wouldn't even let us advertise on their local business wall.
