When it comes to new firearms I KNOW that wholesalers make a shitload more than retailers. I would not be surprised if your guess is also correct.

Are they buying 100 at a time from the mfgr? I'm to the point with Buds Guns and Gunbroker not even bothering with new guns. I have long suspected that some wholesalers are selling direct to cut out the dealer and make more money. Bigger volume, bigger discount. Bid's sells so cheap because they buy massive quantities from distributors, therefore getting a better price than the guy who buys 10-12 a month. |

I believe they absolutely get that type of discount pricing. Just look at the price Wal Mart offers items for. You buy enough, and the per unit price falls through the floor. It's to the point that to survive you have to offer something the other places don't or can't. Be that gunsmithing, machine work, Class 3 or a range. A knowledgeable staff is another thing that helps with this. You have to have that hook that will keep customers coming back. |

I bought a Rem 11-87 from Dicks for $300 under wholesale at the time. I called Remington and asked how the hell they could sell so cheap. I was told that the buyer commits to a large lot of guns and states the price point. Then Rem cuts things out to meet that price. Well it keeps me dealing in used guns mostly, which is higher profit for sure!
