THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Does anyone here use software of any type to complete portions of the 4473, particularly with customer information? Does anyone use printed or copied 4473s in their shop, as opposed to physical forms ordered from the ATF? I'm a little guarded about what I intend to do, but of course I will be seeking counsel and ATF approval of my idea before I begin serious development or marketing. I'm not looking for legal advice; just information to see if there is anything out there close to my idea already in the marketplace. |

Not allowed to use copies of 4473s. It must be the actual document being that it is a legal document. I do all 4473s by hand and on the form, some buisness' are switching to the online form.

My local FFL also uses computer software to do 4473's. Back to the drawing board.

I'd like something a little bit easier to integrate into other software. Ideally, I could just drop the info into a PDF and spit it out, but that would make sense, and therefore is likely a felony in the eyes of the ATF... |

Just make sure it s ATF approved. e4473 is the most common. Originally Posted By silhouette_: Not allowed to use copies of 4473s. It must be the actual document being that it is a legal document. Do you know where I might find that? 1) e4473 is an application, not a PDF. 2) Not sure where to find it, I read it years ago when 4473 were in short supply. Maybe in the newsletter. It also might have been a temporary thing. Did not pay too much attention to it as I had plenty of 4473s. |

When we 1st started using the E4473 it would try to save it as a pdf form. Just had to
change the way the PC recognized had it up and running for us. There is also a live Eform which it basically calls it in and does everything for you after the info is imputed. I think it takes about 7 seconds if I remember right |

Alright guys, I think I have my answer. I found a software company that sells FFL management software, complete with electronic bound book and online NICS checks.
It's still not what I have in mind, but the features they have implemented prove that what I want to do can be done in a way that satisfies ATF. Thanks for the help, and of course Arfcom will be the first place I go to announce when and if I have a product to release. |

Sweet. It would be cool to have it already filled out and just hand it over for the store to finalize........but most stores are so ass backwards that they will never catch on to this level of efficiency. ![]() |

My LGS too, you mosey on over to the computer, fire up the 4473 have to sign the printed 4473 and show the man your ID, wait for the background check and you're done. There is one question on this application that aren't on the paper 4473: Do you live on a military base ? I answer no, I suppose if you answer yes you have even more questions or issues to deal with, e.g., like, so where are you going to store this weapon ? |

During the fall of 2008 the ATF changed the 4473. Then the panic buying started after the election, and the ATF couldn't supply enough of the new 4473s. The ATF told FFLs they would have to make their own copies to use. We had a local print shop make up 500 copies. |
