IWI's latest on a .308 tavor from Facebook January 27, 2017:

We can neither confirm nor deny that a tavor or x95 .308 is in the works!

I'd rather see one in 6.8 or 6.5G. Those two calibers are a perfect match for that gun.

I love my 5.56 Tavor though.

The possibility of a 308 Tavor would be a welcome addition to the market.

I'll buy 5.56/5.45/7.62x39 rifles until I'm blue in the face, but I've largely sat out of the .308 world aside from a PTR-91 from a million years ago. The AR-308 realm is a mess, the Cold War era designs are showing their age as far as modularity, and suppressor support seems to be an afterthought.

My one request to IWI would be to make it suppressor-friendly. Adjustable gas, 2-3 position valve, auto-regulating, whatever. Just make it ready out of box.

At this stage I'm more excited for a hypothetical 7.62 Tavor over the clusterfuck that has become the MDR.

I'd have tremendous interest in a .308 Tavor. Let's do 20" barrel that takes SR25 pattern magazines

+1

IWI brings a .308 to the market and I wont have any interest in the MDR just due to the headache DT has created via the way they choose to market and communicate.

They make a fine bolt action, however I would take a 308 bullpup from IWI before DT just because I trust that IWI can produce reliable semi autos.

Edit: to me Since they started taking money DT has had a multitude of opportunities for redemption time and time again to put worries to rest and they never have, at least not for me.

Sorry got off topic , Back to 308 Tavor

I said above I'd be more interested in a 6.X, but I would also be interested in a .308.

The .308 price points are always a good bit higher for good reason, but for the coin that it will cost, IWI needs to contract with Geissele to make the triggers and trigger bow for them, or pay a licensing fee to make them in house. Honestly, they should be doing that with the current models.

lol no

I agree that it needs to be suppressor friendly with adjustable gas and for fucks sake don't pick some dipshit thread pitch like 15mm HK

I wouldn't hate a 6.x tavor but a 308 with a 16" barrel in an SBR sized package sounds bad ass.

If they fix the accuracy and overgassing issues (especially with a suppressor), and don't price it insanely, it might be worth a look.  Otherwise the K&M M17S in .308 is a better buy.

I'm in for the K&M pending funds. I'm tickled to death with my 5.56 model. I still have guys who've shot it bring a friend over with a box a federal ammo to shoot it at the range!

I'm with you in that vein.  My opinion - .308 remains a benchmark round and will be around for a long time, but technologically, the 6.5CM/.260Rem rounds have surprased it, and will continue to be the growth cartridges.  I will be skipping .308 entirely.
