So am trying to remove the long rail that came on my M1 receiver and am able to unscrew two of the three screws. However, the screw closest to the front of the receiver will not budge.

Suggestions?

What type of 4mm hex tool are you using?

I use this and with a 3/8 socket wrench they always break free.

Bought mine from Amazon.

Using a t-handle similar to this one below.

Can you leverage it with something on the end of the t handle?

You could apply conservative heat to the bolt head too.

Picked up a 3/8" 4mm hex and used a 12" handle and it broke free with ease.

The t-handle was twisting too much to break it free.

Thanks for the suggestion on the 3/8" hex.

Oh God thanks for this thread...my damn hex wrenches weren't budging the damn thing.  Going to head out to Home Depot for the proper tools.

When you go to reinstall it feel free to crank it down as tight as you can.

That's just the way these were built.

Alas I still ended up taking it to a gunsmith.  I don't know if the person that owned it before me had had the dang thing off before and used red locktite on it or what but the tip of the damn hex wrench broke off in one of the bolt heads so off it went to the gunsmith.  Should have it back on Wednesday with the 3x optic on it.
