Why didn't IWI make the barrel longer instead of making a bigger buttplate?

Excellent question.  They had two options:  

Add useful barrel length to increase velocity.  

Or

Redesign bulky rubber buttpad to act as a filler on the tail end.  



The only plus I see, is that if/when IWI comes out with the SBR buttpad, one could use that slim pad and pin their muzzle device to have the shortest package possible (in non SBR form).
