Does any one know if IWI is looking into a Tavor in 7.62x51?

No, it would have to be redesigned with a longer action

Looks promising.....

...the Desert Tech that is.

(I seriously doubt IWI has plans for one)

Does Israel even issue standard infantry 7.62 NATO, or is that only MGs and such?  I imagine that would play a huge part in what becomes available, based on who is paying the R&D.

There was some talk of it and while i am in love with my 5.56 tavor I would pass on a 7.62. .308 is expensive to shoot so I am not interested in another battle rifle chambered in it I have a ptr91 gi for that, and it rarely gets shot since the cheap surplus German and Malaysian ammo dried up not long after I got her. The desert tech .308 does peak my interest since they make tack drivers and a semi auto bullpup with great accuracy does interest me.

I have a bullpup fetish and I'm so getting that MDR one day. If I was made out of money I'd have DT's bullpup sniper rifle too *drooooool* I love my Tavor!

I've heard rumors of a .308 Tavor coming to market, but with IMI already producing the Galil Ace 52/53, I think it will be quite a while before it would materialize.
If they do offer one, I'm in for an 18" barrel model in FDE that accepts Pmags.

Hopefully there will be a working prototype at the '15 Shot Show, and there will be a release date sometime in '15...and hopefully the MSRP will not be over $2K.

Most users prefer the .308 for longer range use, since the bullpup is designed for use in urban fighting it is probably a pretty low priority.
Not that it would not be really awesome to have a compact .308, putting in a 16" barrel would not be optimal, now a 22-24" barrel in an under 36" package would be pretty sweet.

The RFB is an 18" barrel with a OAL of ~27"  Mine has been great.

I would almost want a MDR-C in .308, just because

I hope they make it easy to add a vertical foregrip (bolt-on rail, Magpul MVG, etc.).
