For those who want a TALON AUG A3 SCOPE MOUNT we are doing a pre-order. http://www.manticorearms.com/Talon-AUG-A3-Scope-Mount-PREORDER-MA-8200.htm Here is the deal- Steyr decided to change the receiver on the AUG from the A3 to the M1. That pretty much killed the talon mount for AUG in our eyes. But we keep getting requests for it, so here is the deal: UNTIL AUGUST 1ST WE WILL BE TAKING PRE-ORDERS ON THE AUG A3 TALON MOUNT. YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED. IF BY AUGUST 1ST, 2014 WE HAVE 25 PRE-ORDERS WE WILL THEN CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD AND BEGIN PRODUCTION OF THE MOUNTS. MOUNTS WILL BE DELIEVERD ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 15, 2014. IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE 25 PRE-ORDERS BY AUGUST 1ST, 2014, WE WILL NOT DO A PRODUCTION RUN OF THE MOUNTS AND YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED. OK, here are the details on the mount itself: The Talon Mount for AUG A3 bolts directly to the Steyr AUG A3 receiver, and allows for mounting of any scope up to 30mm in diameter. A revised design inspired by the Steyr AUG A3 SF model the Talon AUG A3 Scope Mount gives sleek lines and a much lower ring profile than previous designs. Ring tops are compatible with all previous models of Talon Mount, meaning you can use our doetail ring tops to mount 10/22 iron sights on your Talon Mount (dovetail ring tops limited in supply and sold separately). To give you plenty of sling mounting options we have included FOUR QD sling swivel pockets on the mount! One in front, one between the scope arms, and one on each side at the rear scope arm. Made in the USA, and weighing only 6 ounces, it is machined from a solid billet of 6061 Aluminum and finished in black Type II class II anodizing. The centerline of the Talon AUG A3 scope rings are 1.85" over the comb of the stock. This is the exact same height as the now discontinued MSAR "E4" height factory optic and the Steyr AUG A1 with integral optic. The Talon AUG A3 Scope Mount includes the scope mounting base, two smooth scope ring tops, recevier mounting bolts, ring mounting screws, a hex wrench, and an instruction sheet for installation. (Please note: QD sling swivels not included) |

Sigh...why you have to do this right after I dropped $2k on gun+ accessories.
I love you guys for doing this, but there's no way I can make your cutoff and keep my boys safe from the wife. |

Sven, please ignore my IM. I would retract it if I could; it shows I should read more and type less!

To answer a general question- installation involves simply removing the three bolts that hold the AUG A3 rail on the gun from the underside of the receiver. You may need to use a little heat to break the loctite that Steyr put on the installation bolts. Remove the three bolts, pull the top rail off, put the Talon AUG A3 mount in place and bolt on with the three supplied bolts and you are good to go! |
|
I don't own an AUG but I do have a MSAR and got your mount when you guys found some in the back. LOVE IT!
|

FYI, at the rate we are getting pre-orders we actually are currently on track to make 25 by the 1st of August.
Of course, make sure to tell any AUG lovers you know about this, we don't want the pre-order pace to slow down! Sven Manticore Arms |

Will you be updating us as we get closer to "the time" in case "someone" needed to step up and grab an extra one or two?

how good will cheek weld be? Looks like it will be much higher than most mounts. Thanks!

View Quote The centerline of the scope to the stock is the same height as an A1 AUG, or to be technical it is 1.85" from the to tof the stock to the centerline of the optic. The larger scope ring size and the need for slightly more vertical arms than the A1are a bit deceiving. |

View Quote In comparison, a larue LT104 is 1.5" above the RAIL of an AR receiver An AUG A3 standard rail is 1/4" higher than an AR receiver (that's coming from PJSteyr) So if you subtract .25 from 1.85 you get 1.6 which is .1" higher than a Larue LT104 mount on an AR receiver. Negligible difference. I may be making no sense but that's the numbers I came up with. |

9 pre-orders so far and still a good week to go.
Keep 'em coming boys! |

Is it possible to easily overtorque these screws when you are installing the new mount and damage the receiver or is it forgiving to those of us who hamfist everything?

View Quote You'd have to be trying to damage them, IMO. A nice 'benefit' of using the right tool for the job, e.g. an allen key that will FIT the right allen screw...won't easily let you get enough leverage to damage it, unless really trying. I used a torque wrench and bit on mine 'just because' when I changed to Pete's A2-ish rail last time, but wouldn't be concerned doing it 'by feel,' either. I'm in - ordered. |

View Quote The threads are in the A3 top rail and in the Talon Mount itself. Even if you somehow managed to generate enough torque to tweak the threads you would ultimately only damage the top rail or mount, and not the receiver. I'll put it this way, If you manage to damage the threads or the receiver overtorquing the screws by hand I will personally get you a job opening stuck pickle jars full time! |

I have gotten a couple of requests to see the mount with an actual scope in it- the 30mm scope I used in the past has "disappeared" (I think I loaned it to a buddy, LOL) so I have a scope on order and should have it mounted up for a picture on Friday. Bushnell AR 1-4x 30mm with BDC reticle.
Nothing super high end or fancy, but will give a good feel for the optic looks and mounting height. |
|
|
FYI we will definitely have enough pre-orders to make this happen.

Yummy pics, Manticore.
Having an AUG as sexy as an A1 but with variable optics….priceless. Can't wait to mount my Burris XTR II 1-5X on mine. Do you have weight specs? Hoping it is lightweight! |

Very cool. I hope y'all make one for the new Augs coming out.

Did we get enough pre-orders to justify making these? View Quote In a word, YES! We have enough to justify a production run- everyone who gets in on the pre-order will get one for sure! To be honest once I saw how well the pre-order was going I already put it in the production que. Sven Manticore Arms |

These are in production right now, pre-order is still open for those who want one.
Product will ship on or before October 15th, 2014. We are making a few extra ones, but the only way to guarantee you will actually get one is to pre-order before they are ready. |
|
Okay, a little late but I just placed a pre-order
Like the looks of this mount on the rifle. |

All right, finally gave in and ordered one - I know I would regret it forever if I didn't.

Sven, can I add one to my existing preorder? Thanks. View Quote Just place an order for another one. We have free shipping on right now through the end of the month! (If you placed a second order we would just combine them into one package and only charge you once for shipping anyhow. That is how we roll here at Manticore. ) |
