Will the Aug receivers continue to be machined by Vltor? Or will Styer take over now that their Bessemer, Ala manufacturing plant is up and running?

Vltor for now at least.

I am not sure if Styer would want to invest in the machines needed to finish receiver castings here in the US.

I would assume that eventually that will be the outcome.

A 100% Steyr made US AUG, that would be neat.

If cheaper it would make more sense to sub-contract the machining as they are doing now with Vltor.

It could be done with just a couple of CNC machines.

.....and don't forget the labor and maintenance costs to run those machines.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought Steyr already owned the machines to finish the castings.

From what I have read the blanks or castings are sent to VLTOR to become AUG receivers...

I don't think Steyr has any intentions anytime soon to do their own machining!

So much for their new "manufacturing" plant!

I'm growing impatient for the new AUGs.  Whey were they suppose to become available again?

Give em credit !!
Machining a receiver is part of the process of building a firearm.
Final assembly of components into a weapon/testing/QC and distribution is the BIG picture.

Sure, Steyr could buy, install all the CNC technology they needed, but it's still a business and they
would have to pass on that cost to the end user - us.
Instead they chose to pass off the CNC process to VLTOR - a respected manufacturer in the industry.
Good decision - cost savings

(You might be surprised "who" actually machined the upper/lower receivers of some of your AR's)

I didn't really like that new M1 SF variant they're making, but it's starting to grow on me...
