I am a huge bullpup fan and want a shotgun to go with my rifles.  The UTAS, KSG, don't really do it for me.  What other options do I have that are QUALITY?  I have read about the 870 kit and am thinking that, but are there other option now or coming out?  The Saiga 12 stock looks like crap even though I have a new saiga 12 in the box...

I'm very pleased with the KSG, but a Bullpup Unlimited 870 kit would be a backup choice.  Enough so that I might snag one - even not owning an 870

I wished they had shaped the stock differently.
Hope that rail on the bottom of the pump action comes off. Not too comfortable to grip.Rails on the side at the top are ok.

I find it crazy more companies don't build bullpup shotguns.  Having a 12g that short would make the perfect house gun without a SBS. The KSG has potential but Kel-Tec builds 4 guns a year and I would prefer a beefier setup.  I have an origional Sub-9 all metal 9mm and they ditched it for the plastic lesser version.  I wish they still made the Sub-9 and built a heavy duty KSG... The Semi rotory mag gun I don't think is CT legal and it's like $2500..  There was a gun at shot show a couple years ago with a mag like a PS90 on top I would have bought in a heartbeat but it never happened (now if it does I can't buy it anyway)..  How about a 12g AUG??? or Tavor???  That would be freaking awesome, but again probably not CT legal..  Hate this state.

There is one like the KSG but upside down with two tubes. When I checked it was high dollar 4 digits.

UTAS doesn't seem as reliable as the Kel Tec, but very few side by side comparisons available.  The Kel Tec seems to suffer from normal Kel Tec production capacity.  The 870 bullpup kit is popular, but the one flaw seems to be the trigger will not work if turned upside down.  The Saiga conversions look awesome; there is a Chinese copy of the Saiga now coming in, I'm not aware anyone has done a bullpup conversion of that that yet, nor of the Turk 12 ga 1919 giant AR.

Do you mean the Neostead from South Africa?  It pre-dated the KSG by 10-15 years.  Not importable as far as I know.

You could always do the Kushnapup conversion since you already have the Saiga 12. The $275 price tag is a big steep in my opinion, but if you got the cash and you like it, why not?

The Kushnapup doesn't look well designed.  I think the 870 kit is a better product.  I would still like to see a "Factory" semi auto option for less than $1500..  Has anyone ever seen the monolith arms Halo P12

Any reviews on how well it feeds the shells?

EDIT:

Scratch that. Looks like they are having some manufacturing  problems.

I want a semi auto KSG.

I would buy it if it was semi.  Not really interested in the pump.

I'm pretty sure that rail comes off about 99% sure in fact since I don't remember it being on the ones I shot in September and both of the ones I used where on loan from the guy who makes em. I enjoyed shooting it and if I got a bullpup shotgun this is probably the route I would go.

After poking the side of a UTAS and feeling the cheapo plastic bend under one fingers worth of pressure I wouldn't pay $20 for the thing especially factoring in all the video reviews of them breaking rusting etc.

KSG I haven't fired I have seen it in person but there is no way I'd shell out $800+ for a pump shotgun. Hell I find it hard to swallow $199 and up they charge for mossberg special purposes these days as they are still $119 on sale in my eyes like they were when I bought one when I was 18 .

Crappy trigger pull as expected, or does the conversion make it less reliable?  Or are the ergonomics just bad?

I know this is an old thread, but I finally had a chance to put my Bullpup Unlimited 870 kit on my old 870 with 20" barrel.  It worked great and shoots like a dream - feels like no recoil with my #7 shot target loads I tried in it to function check.  I liked it so much that I ended up shooting the whole 25-round box just for fun.  I didn't use that rail section on the bottom of the forearm, and it feels nice.

My only issue was that the kit didn't work with my new ATI magazine extension - the Y-shaped bit of the kit that holds the back of the forearm on hits the ATI mag extension on the knurled part and won't go back far enough to pop up a new round.  So, I had to use my old Choate extension (which did work once I moved the clamp to the right spot to get it out of the way).

So, it is really cool and works great, but it may not work with all magazine extensions.

I have a saiga 12 kushnapup and I'm happy with it.   My only complaint is that the rail is not included and I needed to buy the ultimak rail and drill/tap a mounting hole to have it "as pictured".

It looks great, feels great, and it's sturdier than I anticipated.   Unfortunately you need to unshell the whole bullpup stock for a good cleaning.   Such three minutes of tedium.

Was super stoked about that, too bad they got bought out and the new owners had no interest in putting it into production.

I believe the Halo Mfg. guys got bought out by Magpul.  Its been several years, so I don't think it is coming out anytime soon.  I suspect it was mainly a concept which won't go anywhere in the near future.

I have a mossberg bullpup. Very reliable but it has a pretty good kick and only hold 5 rounds. I shoot my Saiga more, it a much better stock and the mags are great.

I have the kushnapup and I like it a lot.  I did have to drill a hole and tap it to mount a rail.  If you don't want to do that, there's a sight that fits in where the rear sight dovetail is.  I bought one of those but they seemed flimsy.

I wanted a bullpup shotgun, the Keltec is unobtainium, so I researched the Bullpup Unlimited (BU).  Got an ok deal on an 870 tactical and ordered the bullpup.  I cannot remember where I read it but I had heard that there were some betterments made to the fit, finish, and polymer of the BU.  One of the popular distributors had the BU but I ended up purchasing directly from BU directly to ensure I got the latest model.  All told I spend about $750 or so.

Assembly was relatively easy, directions are put together pretty good.  I found that it was easier to get it all together if I left a little play in the screws during assembly.  I put it all together then tightened everything down.

I really like it.  Short, compact, fully loaded it's a little bulky, but the ergonomics are good and it shoulders very easily.  I did a quick function test and it ran well.  Recoil was tamed a lot by the squishy buttpad.  It was a lot less than I expected and far less felt recoil than shooting a stock gun.

One thing that I did notice is that the manual of arms is different.  The slide release is a button towards the rear and I haven't quite figured out how to manioulate the weapon.

The good thing is no permanent modifications to the shotgun.  I've got pics, just nothing available right now.

I debated on getting the kit for my 870, but after figuring the cost of the kit and the amount I paid for the 870, it was not worth it in my opinion. I figured it would cost me about  $720.00 for the shotgun and kit. For about $170.00 more, I could get the KSG and wound up going that route.
