Looks nice and thin. What's the diameter on that MSAR rail setup?

How about heat transfer to the rail?

What's the total weight addition as shown on the MSAR minus the vfg?

6065?

If I want to quick change my barrel how easy is it to get the rail off?

Thank you all again for your earlier comments and questions.

Silent,
This particular forend has evolved in some degree since the picture was taken. I can't remember how much it used to weigh, but now about a third of its material has been removed for weight saving and heat reduction. The overall width is still roughly 2.2 inches. Two screws are needed to secure this forend to the optic rail... I am sure there're better ways. Once I have completed the A3 rail project at hand, I will resume the work on this.

Maybe some kind of cam lever set up instead of screws? Tool-less disassembly is a big plus!

20/20,

What about a rail where at the end toward the very back it had the ability to take flank rail attachments (along the same line as the MSAR with its rear flank rail on the stock) so that we'd have a mounting point for a rear sling attachment without having to use up the rear top of the rail?

Sure, I will see what we can do. Thank you for your input.

Looks good.

I like this rail. NIce and light, nice and long. Well done. My "VLTOR" A3 will have one of these.

Any thoughts of doing a retro A2 style rail for the A3?

Pete Athens is doing one IIRC.

Correct. Pete's rail is longer than the original. I am interested in one that is the same length as the original A2 rail.

Any chance this rail will be offered for the MSAR STG556?
