May 1, 2012 – Des Plaines, IL

UTAS-USA, American manufacturer of the revolutionary UTS-15 tactical shotgun announced today that production has started on the civilian model of the UTS-15 in their new facility in Des Plaines, IL.

UTAS’ Director of U.S. Operations, Matt Guzeldere stated today, "We’ve been working with UTAS Makine, Ltd. the Turkish company that developed the UTS-15, to set up American manufacturing for quite sometime. It has been a difficult process that required building a lot of duplicate and expensive tooling, such as polymer injection molds. We have a license agreement, all of the tooling in place and have started producing parts. Of course we’ll be training personnel, running the first guns through product qualification tests and ramping up production, so we’re anticipating delivering the first American made UTS-15’s in late May or early June. ”

The UTS-15 tactical 12 ga. pump shotgun is a patented, ground-up design utilizing fiber reinforced polymers for over 85% of its parts and is the first such firearm to have the receiver molded completely from polymer. At only 28.5” in overall length and weighing only 6.9 lbs, but with top-mounted alternately feeding magazines providing a total capacity of 15 rounds, the UTS-15 has truly broken new ground in tactical shotgun design. As standard features on the Military & Police Model and separately purchased accessories for civilians, there is a built in point-and-shoot impact centered, focused-beam LED spotlight, adjustable laser sight, flip-up large aperture peep or V rear sight, a glow-in-the-dark bead front sight and a screw in, breaching muzzle extension.

The U.S. manufactured UTS-15 civilian model carries a base price of $1200.

Looks (from the pictures I have seen) like the UTS-15 ejects out the right side only which kills it for us lefties. I guess I will be getting a KSG as it is a bottom eject.

Yes If only Lefties buy the KSG then there will be plenty to go around
And if only Righties buy the UTS-15 then that will alleviate the expected shortage.

Note the seller is UTAS the American manufacturer.
Not a pre-order scam.
They are building them rite now.
Carefully and slowly as they ramp up production.
Shipment in about 3 or 4 weeks.
Once these are gone I suspect there will be a wait until you see one at your LGS

I got one

The thing I did like about the UTS-15 was
Top Loading with a hatch on top door each tube.
Makes it easy to do a tactical reload, (as if you really need more than 14 rounds)

Loading the KSG always looked clumsy having to turn the thing upside down and tilt it on the side you are loading.
OK the KSG's bottom eject is way cool, but Im not a lefty so not really an issue w me.

I really like the UTS-15 shotgun automatically feeding from alternate tubes.
fire 15 rounds without reaching back and inside the gun to flip a switch.

I do wish it was as short as the KSG, but it is really just 1 1/2 inches longer. and it is no heavier.

Internal light and laser is kind of cool.

The UTS-15 has been in production, and selling and in the field for over a year.
Just not here in the USA.

Oh and here is a biggie.
The first I ever heard about the UTS-15 was last week.
And I already bought one and its being shipped in 4 weeks.

I have been waiting on a KSG to come available at MSRP for seams like a year.
with no end in sight

Funny the narrator mentions buckshot but the guy shooting is using birdshot.

This sounds like an "ad" to me.

I am seriously thinking about ordering one. The KSG was on my list, but I am leaning towards the USG. I shoot right-handed, so the side eject doesn't matter to me. My Ithaca is a bottom ejector and I've fumble on a shell that slipped under my feet more than once.

It's a bullpup
So is way shorter than even some shotguns w 14" barrels.
What can I say?
I like bullpups and I didn't own a shotgun and I got tired of waiting for a KSG.

I like innovation, getting tired of people doing the exact same thing over and over. This thing looks awesome.

Regrettably though, I will not be getting one as I was graced with the evolutionary gift of Southpaw and don't like eating shotgun shells.

I read on another thread that UTAS-USA is making 200 bullpups rite now to sell on GB to individuals (34 left)
Then they are Going to be selling through distributors.
Im probably going to have mine before any show up at your LGS.
I figured my SN to be between 140 and 160 somewhere.
Plus people buying these first 200 from GB get a free set of sights.

Without having handled either, I like it a HELL of a lot more than the Kel-Tec.

Bring this thing to the US. If it can manage to pass the import crap and I can get it in California, I will buy it as quick as it hits the shelves or I can order it.

/edit

Love the narration on the video. Where in the galaxy or universe did they get Duke Nukem to do the voice over and how did they get him to do the awkward. pauses. mid. sentence...

/edit

Okay, now I have read the full thread and realize the damn thing is available for sale. Time for me to determine if it's Ca. legal or not.

The narration of their video is a hoot.
"And with the Magazines above the Barrel, Muzzle climb is almost NonResistant"
I think that was supposed to read "NonExistent"
as in
"muzzle climb is almost NonExistent"

I am right handed, so I guess I am waiting for the first one to become reasonably available.

I want to know more about the stock/receiver section that the pump/slide operates on.

Is it similar to that of a Glock with imbedded steel rails for parts to cycle on? Is there any metal in the lower or is it all synthetic?

Watching the detail strip video it is hard to determine what the material is that the pump/slide cycles on.

Durability wise, I'm wanting something that approaches that of an 870 as opposed to, well, something HiTech-like.

Based on the videos that I found on youtube, the top of the mag tubes are open. Wouldn't that be a magnet for debris or crap falling into the mag tube? It might be a deal breaker for me.

Magazine Springs are pretty strong.
Unless you are planning on manually inserting little sticks and pebbles into the magazine tubes
I doubt there will be any feeding problems.

When the KSG first came out I got on a couple of pre-order lists
One site had them for sale at a price under MSRP so I signed up and paid with my CC
Number 81 on the list.
6 months later I was down to number 74.
They just were not getting the KSG from their distributer.
I canceled my order and thought about buying one on GB, but they were selling for $1200 to $1300 still.
Just couldn't see paying that for an $800 MSRP gun.
I pretty much gave up on owning a KSG for the next one or two years.
Then I saw the UTS-15 being sold direct from the manufacturer.
with a ship date of 4 weeks
being sold at MSRP of $1200
with a free set of iron sights which drops the price of the shotgun about $150.
Now Im thinking Im actually getting the gun for $1050.
Plus it comes with a muzzle flash breaching choke. Thats extra.
Plus it loads from the top which seamed less awkward than the bottom loading KSG.
Plus It will feed the entire 15 rounds without having to manipulate a switch.
I liked that feature too.
So I ordered one.

I can easily see the UTS-15 attaining the popularity of the KSG and selling for a premium.
In fact I toyed with the idea of getting 2
But in conversations with UTAS-USA I learned a Lefty version was coming out, and a semi auto version was being worked on, and even a 44 mag version was being considered.
So I figured Id better just get the one and save my money.

I was able to find a KSG for a fair price, If UTAS makes something lefty friendly I would be interested in one as well.

@ 22 seconds, it seems the RSO was not happy about the rate of fire.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.

well it is a shotgun w/ double tubes....think double barrel, but with a 3rd barrel on top.
Screw it, I'm going shooting!

Is it me, or is there anyone else that doesn't like the C-clips on the pins? Seems like a easy thing to snag and pop off.

The C-clips and the open top mag tubes killed it for me.

the latter is what I didn't like. Don't want brush getting in the gun & jamming the tube. This 'feature' seems like s dumb idea

Unless I can't see properly, the tubes are only open when the top cover is up. Which you would only do when reloading. How is brush going to get in?

ah, I must of confused it with the Keltec (KSG), which has 'indicator' holes in the tubes.

Although the same appears to apply...the UTS has a slot the full length of the tubes, unless I am not seeing it correctly.
Arguably since I not longer live near the Shawnee Natn'l Forest, brush isn't much of an issue compared to sand/rock.

I have been hunting many times in thick brush
And I somehow always manage to slip through
without getting myself or my equipment tangled up
In brush.
If you refrain from cramming little sticks and pebbles into
The openings of your gun you should be Ok.

If the gun is intended as a home defense shotgun
The chances of fouling the magazine tubes
With twigs and stones is somewhat reduced because
The shotgun will be stored and deployed indoors.

If you do take the UTS-15 outdoors
I recommend not tossing it into a brush
Pile or into a gravel or sand pit. Or a lake.
Just sayin.

I am blind and my dog is dead.

A rubber "wiper" type of cover would work well there.

can't say I own a shotgun that has such a [silly] design. Thus I haven't had anything in my tubes while in the thicket.
& I am known to lay a gun on the ground, I dont look for a 'table' while outdoors; I do the same with other tools too.
If it was optional, I'd do w/o the round indicator on this & the KSG
That's my point.
