This was the best shoot I've ever been to, and it was made possible by great vendors and great people! I'm counting down the days to the 2012 shoot. I wouldn't miss this for anything! The vendors did a great job and were very helpful.
I don't have any pictures or video to post because I was way too busy shooting and enjoying the action, but I did see a lot of cameras out, so "post 'em if you got 'em"! Thanks again to all the vendors who set this up. It was amazing! |

In for the pics & video!
Glad you all had a great time! I am stuck in Ohio right now. Getting ready to head back to KY. in a couple of hours. |

You'll all have to wait for mine till Wed when I get home but I've got some decent pics!
ETA: My pics on page 3! |

If it wasnt for the fact that I live on the bottom of Texas I would have gone man that looks fun!

Below is copy of what i posted in the ILHTF. Also wanted to add a couple things.
I wish we would have had more time to try everything. Of the few I did try the RPD was my favorite. It was also my first time shooting a bullpup. The compactness and balance of It was very nice. Loud little sucker!. The list of Stuff on the "do want" list added another page. Edit: oh please make a KSG in semi-auto. Link to ILHTF Thank you all. Dad wouldn't shoot but he did come with and his reaction to the bullpup M14 was priceless. The expressions went something like but ended up at as he heard what it was capable of.
Wifey and father-in-law (both very novice shooters) came out as well. They haven't stopped talking about it. I'm wondering if my wife now wanting her own guns is good or bad... First draft of some video: |

If anyone has video of the safety brief that was followed by someone shooting some tannerite (or whatever) can you please PM or email me? I'd like to get the raw video from you, not a YouTube upload or anything like that. It may be too large to email, but I can work out a way for you to send it to me.
It will be included in a larger compilation of videos, and you'll be credited if you wish. |

Spart,
I have video on my iphone of the tannerite, im me your email address and i'll forward it to you. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

That was a great shoot totally worth the 925 mile drive each way. The rpd carbine was sweet , and I think I might need to get a 870 to slap that bulpup kit on when it comes out, I didn't fire the kel tech any but it jammed too much for my taste so id rather have the 870 conversion.

I didn't fire the kel tech any but it jammed too much for my taste Jammed? Anyone want to talk about the KelTech shotty. There was some speculation as to why it jammed, it ran fine in the first half of the day, but had some issues after lunchtime. It get *very* dirty and pretty hot as it was cycling rounds continuously from what I saw (I did not get on the line to the afternoon) It wasn't the only gun to go down during the day, we also managed to overheat an RPD (it was firing belts continuously all morning and just needed to cool off), break a bolt on an M4 carbine, and burned up at least 2-3 gas tubes on the poor M4 that was running the Armatac 150 round drum. Guys were buying enough ammo to fill up the drum just so they could dump the entire thing in one looooooong burst! All the guns were run hard all day long, and very few got to sit on the table for more than a few minutes at a time until they went back on the line again! If you want to see something really entertaining, you should have seen Chris at DS Arms trying to replace the bolt in a bolt carrier that had dumped 150 rounds about two minutes before- hot potato does not begin to describe it, LOL. |
|
The KSG seemed to only like the "un-ribbed" ammo. After a few shots, the ribbed would "stick" in the chamber, and you'd really have to slap the pump to get it to cycle...
That being said, it was a pre-release proto-type, so I assume that will be addressed prior to the actual release of the production product... BTW, new video from the Bullpup Shoot (see if you can pick out Dawg180 !) |
|
Nice video, but what is this Bullpup Breakfast Club mentioned in the credits?? |
|
Bullpup Unlimited, Juggernaut Tactical, InterMedia Outdoors, and BullpupForum.com all stayed at the cabins on-site (over at the lodge), and the Impact staff served breakfast.
Hence, The Bullpup Breakfast Club... |

Rogue looks pretty sweet. That 870 bullpup conversion looks neat as well.

It filled the mags and racked it. The slide did not lock so I racked it again resulting in a double feed that required taking a pin out of the gun to clear. I'm willing to take the blame as a unfamiliar user, but based on KT past production abilities I still didn't see anything worth waiting months or years for. At least not when you can convert your 870 for under $300 with a Bullpup Unlimited stock. It seamed like a solid alternative and you can still apply your existing knowledge of 870 mechanics if you need to. Plus I believed JJ when he told the story about the gal at the spring company screwing up production as oppossed to the guys at KT whining about electrical supply while shipping RFBs to Canada. |

What were your thoughts on the Rogue? I thought it had an awesome trigger nice balance and didn't feel like it was 12lbs unloaded since its shorter and balanced well. The recoil was also a lot tamer than I thought it would be. My ptr 91 GI with its hensoldt and magpul butt stock weighs the same but feels a lot heavier firing offhand., and kicks a bit more. They also had a left handed charging handle which was pretty nice. If I had a m1a lying around I would probably buy one depending on the price. |

I was grateful to have a chance to reconnect with good folks from last year and finally meet some new folks this year. Nice to see again Sven and the crew from Manticore, Al and the crew from Ratworx, Roger/2020, Dave, and all the familiar faces from last year.
Finally met Sgt_P who is one of the most pleasant and cool guys around. That and plus I really want his RFB! It was nice to chat with Dino at Juggernaut, and JJ with his kickazz 870 bullpup conversion. I'll be looking for that Mossberg 590 kit sometime soon! Including last year, I think I've shot pretty much everything that was available. Notwithstanding all the cool full auto's that were there, and of the ones that I could practically have a chance to own, my favorites included the RFB and the 870 bullpup conversion. . The RFB is so well balanced and shoots so well, it felt very natural to me. And I was very glad to have no issues firing it...I'll be looking out for one in the near future.... All I can say about the 870 bullpup is wow....At first, I was very leery of any bullpup conversion kits in general but this one was rock solid. Everything from the materials, to the cycling action, to the trigger was spot on. I shot 000 buck out of it with no issues whatsoever. I brought my Moss 590 pump as well as my 930 SPX semiauto for comparison. Although I shott 00 buck from mine, the bullpup was very easy to shoot fast and switch to other targets. There was no signifcant difference in felt recoil to me between the pup and the regular shotguns. After this experience with the 870 conversion kit, I'm not as anxious about the KelTec KSG anymore and I certainly would not pay the high prices that woudl probably be demanded of them at least in the near term... And that picture of the car peppered with holes made me laugh. Now I can say I have had a chance to drill holes through a car with many of my very own firearms in slow and fast fire lol...I don't get a chance very often to shoot at cars....at least recreationally lol... Thanx to all for making it a fun day! Now on to the cleaning of the guns....ugh... |

Juggernaut Tactical tapped me to help with the range, so they could man thier table, while everyone that wanted to, got to fire the Rogue (for free).
I didn't count, but JT estimated well over 100 people fired the Rogue (the box of 700 .308 rounds was empty by the end - approx 5 rounds per mag/shooter) There should be plenty of testimony from that... |

Yup, Juggernaut Tactical was very cool about letting folks experience their product. It made me feel comfortable not only with their product but with the people I would be doing business with. Very approachable, easy to talk to, the kind of people you know you can count on to be there to help should you need it. That's an important dimension that I look for as well...the people behind the stuff. I can say 99% of the vendors represented their company well there. |

I fired the Rogue and the KelTec RFB one right after the other. The Rogue definitely weighed more, but it seemed that it soaked up the .308 recoil a lot better, too. Also, the trigger was pretty awesome. The trigger on the Dino's personal gun with the big Nightforce scope was very, very good. A lot of that is down to the M14 components used. But the trigger bar design also seemed to be very sturdy, keeping flex to a minimum. I had a chance to see it disassembled and it looked well thought-out.
I have high-speed video of Dino firing the Rogue as fast as he can, and the gun stays pretty flat and level. I've got a lot of work cut out for me just organizing all of the video I shot. Also, one more time for good measure: If anyone has video of the safety brief followed by the tannerite BOOM, I'd really love to get it from you. It will be included in a video compilation and you will be credited if you wish. |

wow just wow!!!! I saw the invite in hometown, I never shot a bullpup, nor did I know what, by definition, a bullpup is......I learned a lot. I learned i need more money and a bigger safe!!
id like to thank everyone involved it was a memorable day. I really enjoyed the hospitality and generousity......... After a 2 hour drive i walked up to the range rubbernecking a few vendors tables and grinning ear to ear.....Dino from Juggernaut hands me a m14 bullpup( Thanks Dino )..the Rouge......10 rounds down range plinking the steel plate with VERY minimal recoil...grinning from ear to ear i hear in the background "we have shooter" ....and that's how the day started..... heavy set-up, plenty accurate, no recoil, and darn pretty too......... Spent time a spoke with most of the vendors as i am a newbie to these types of firearms..... Gentlemen outstanding...great job....THANKS AGAIN |

Dino is a top notch guy. Came to MY house to demo the rouge and we talked about 2 hours on how the rouge fixes every problem with the M1A.
He also installed my stock in my floor and showed me all the ins and outs of it. I was suppose to ride up with dino and the other fellas to the shoot but something came up and i could not make it i iwsh i could have. |

I got to shoot a full mag through the Rogue and here are my basic thoughts:
Ergonomics are great, I didn't even think about it. It is heavy - I think the host gun we were shooting had a heavy barrel, but wrap an M14 in aluminum and it still adds some weight. Left side charging handle is well thought out Push button safety is well thought out. Trigger was very good, as good as the trigger on my stock M14 Recoil was very easy to control, even on rapid fire.. Getting mags in takes a little practice, it is your typical M14 rock and lock, but the magwell is a bit deep- a few mag changes and it would be bad at all, just "different" from what I am used to. Overall it is a nice execution and high quality product, not something i would necessarily personally use, but I wouldn't be afraid to use it and run it hard - it is built like a tank and I am sure it can take some impressive abuse! No Kel Tec Plastic Fantastic 308 wonder here. |

Why not? Too heavy for my taste- I prefer lightweight guns, my AR carbine weighs under 6 lbs. The Rogue has nice ergonomics, but too much heft for my personal taste. I am sure someone could aanswer how much weight it adds to the gun. |

Best guess on how much ammo was spent in $. It would not surpise me if 25-30,000 rounds went downrange the way the full autos were fired. Hell, the Armatac drum along went through at least 5-6 full dumps from what I heard, and the Rpd's were fired until the bolt locked up on one of them from overheating. We ran out of 308 and 5.7 by just after lunch, and there was at least 1,000 to 2,000 rounds of 5.7mm. Ammo prices were really cheap ($10 for a box of 50 brass cased 9mm as an example) so I don't know if you could even put a fair market value on the $$$ of ammo. Our one gracious host (he wasn't a Vendor, just someone in the know with Ratworx with a lot of awesome toys) who brought his Barret M107 simply asked for donations if you wanted to fire, and didn't actually charge anyone. Most everyone was kind enough to oblige, and he seemed pretty pleased to be able to share his toys with the rest of us. Definitely a "Bullpup Brotherhood" moment among many that day. |

What scope is on that RFB? $180 BSA... It's a temporary 1x3 red dot, but it does great, although I'm wondering how long it will hold up on the .308. So far so good (about 700 rounds so far...) I'm wanting a true 1x for both eyes open quick shooting, that also powers up to 6x. But those don't come cheap, so it may be a while... I've got another BSA on a 1022 Ultimate build, and it does great as well... |
|
Even though my two friends paid for a full mag each, they were not able to enjoy the full auto Aug b/c the barrel was literally glowing red hot from use....too bad as I think it was one of the coolest full autos out there, perfectly controlable...maybe next time...
Yeah, there was quite a bit of spent brass on the ground lol.... |

Remember last year when the AUG ate about 1000 rounds in about thirty minutes at the end of the day, what a great gun. A shoot like that is a great way to test the limitations of these guns. There were quite a few inoperable guns at the end of the day, I did not know that the AUG didn't make it until the end. |

I finished sorting through the five gigs of video and stills I took...
Maybe tomorrow night I can actually start editing in Premier? |

I actually have it on high-speed video with a FTE. It almost looked like an undercharged round, there was a puff of smoke from the barrel and the carrier moved maybe halfway back or less. Never had anything like that happen with my rifle, but then again maybe it was someone's handloads? Other than that, it seemed really solid. It's a sweet gun, and I REALLY want one. Someday, when I'm rich, I'll figure out a way to become an FFL SOT... |
