I bought a box of Hornady 240 grain SWCs from the EE and am not sure how deep to seat them. I loaded up this dummy, "eyeballing" it.
Is the bullet seated deeply enough? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks good. Check it in the cylinder for fit. If it fits you're GTG.
The general rule with WC and SWC's is to seat them so about a thumbnail thickness of the shoulder is showing. That looks to be what you have there. Load 'em up and have fun ! |

There should be a crimp groove at the proper place.

It looks like a swaged lead bullet. I hope you are not loading them too hot.

That's a swaged lead soft bullet without a crimp grove. A great target bullet at low velocities.
I have shot a lot of them in 32 and 38 caliber. They should shoot very accurate if velocity is close to 900 fps. Any faster and you will get to learn removing lead from a barrel. Your seating and crimp are perfect. Please tell us the powder charge. (fingers crossed you didn't load these hot) |

Hey, thanks for all the input!
I have 50 loaded with 6.4 grains of Unique, which should give 850 FPS or so according to my Lee manual and info found on various reloading sites. Sounds like I'm on the right track. |
