My Marlin grew up (she's 41 this year) on a diet of 200 grain Core-Lokts. Sadly, it seems, Remington doesn't offer them unless
they have a brass thing attached to their base and only come in boxes of 20 .

I'm currently down to my last 2 boxes of bullets which are so old they are in Red boxes.

So, tell me, what brand (preferably 200gr) is giving you good performance on game? If you have a recipe you want to pass along
that's fine as well. Powder-wise I have 335, 3031, 4895....Let's just say I probably am good in the powder selection lol.

I also have a RCBS 35-200 grain mold and gas checks but not a whole lot of time to cast hence the jacketed bullets. If you do load a cast
bullet, what powders are you having the best luck with?

Thanks in advance

I'm my Super 16 Contender I used Remington SJHP bullets that were intended for .38/.357 pistols. They were very accurate and very effective on deer.
I tried the Hornady SSP bullets but they would not expand at my somewhat lower velocity.

200 grain Core Lokts. In my opinion this is "the" bullet of choice for this caliber. I have 3 original Marlin 336C's and they all shoot this bullet great over IMR 3031.

Midway will still get them in on a seasonal run I believe.

Glad I stocked up on them.

Well that's reassuring. I'll have to hit Midway up for an e-mail alert or some such thing.
Right now I use Hornadays 200gr offering over 36gr of 3031 for paper punching.

This is a caliber I find interesting, just never had a firearm in this caliber.

So I'll be following along.

I do cast 35 caliber 200 gr bullets from a Lee mold.

Pretty good info here:

Unfortunately for us, it looks like the 200 grain round nose Corelokt was the Gold Standard

The 200 grain Cor-Lokt is my bullet of choice too.  It's dropped a lot of Arkansas Ozarks whitetails over the years.  I load it over H4895 for right at 2000 FPS from my 336C.

I caught one of the seasonal runs at Midway several years ago and loaded up on several hundred of them.

perfect timing on this thread.  I just picked up a 1950 336SC in .35 Rem and I'm looking for some reloading ideas.

I reload my .30-30 with the Hornady FTX and was probably going to do the same on this one.  From what I've read, the 200 gr. FTX bullet is quite a good performer; I sighted in using factory rounds and I gotta say I was surprised at how much recoil this thing has.

Anyone with experience using the FTX?

If you can find them, they were unobtainium last time I looked.

Thanks and Hats Off to 'billyhill'. After an exchange of words and a few greenbacks, I now own 300 of these 200gr Remington beauties.

The 158gr jacketed .357's work pretty good too. Some may be too fast for reliable performance on game but they shoot very well.

I shot my friend's Marlin with a 158gr jacketed hollow points at a silhouette practice session one evening. I had no trouble hitting and knocking down the pigs with them.

The pigs are at 300 meters.

I have a cast bullet mold that uses gas checks (Lyman 38156a I think). Might be a good plinker.
