Awhile back I bought what was supposed to be an 8 lb. jug of H335 from a fella here on the forum. Well, it arrived as 8 lbs. of H322, but he made it right. I decided to keep since I got it so cheap.

So I thought I'd try Hodgdon's  max load of 23.0 grs. with a Sierra 69 gr. MK. From a bone stock mid-length carbine built from a DelTon kit with it's heavy front sight and crappy trigger, 200 yd. results were stellar, 3" or maybe a smidge more:

The load averaged 2700 fps from this rifle and 2780 fps from my 20". Later this weekend I'm going to try the longer rifle at 200 yds. with this load.

I know H322 is generally reserved for lighter bullets in the .223, but is anyone else loading anything like this?

For 200 yards and iron sights, I'd say that's an excellent load.  And damn fine shooting on your part.

Thanks. We'll see if luck played a role in a day or two.

I use 22.1gr under a 69gr Nosler Custom Competition exclusively in my service rifle. Averages around 2750fps from the 20" barrel.

That's interesting. You're loading almost a grain less powder than I am, yet getting almost the same velocity. I guess maybe it's the difference in the bullets...?

So are you using the Nosler all the way out to 600 yds. in competition?

Have heard from some are using it with bullets up to 90 grains in 223. There are a million ways to get things done. I haven't gone above 55 gr.

I have used H322 at close to the same charge weight with the 69 grain Sierra Match Kings for many years as my Service Rifle match ammo. It is VERY accurate, so much so that I never really seriously bothered to work up anything else. The rifle is more accurate than I can shoot it off my hind legs. Until that changes I'll spend my time trying to get better as a shooter

21.6gr H322 and 77gr SMK has been my only AR load for the last several years.

Have you chronographed that load? Barrel length?

Got a chance to try the load in my 20" today. The 200 yd. group, center-to-center, is about 1/4" larger than a loaded cartridge, so around 2 1/2"

I haven't.  I mainly shoot my 12.5" Noveske with it.  i tried to get my Magnetospeed to work with my SBR but it was a no go.  My best estimate is 2371 fps.  With that number i have no problems smacking steel from 100 to 500 yards.

1.25 MOA at 200 yards over irons is darned good shooting.
