Can some of you more reloading knowledgeable types explain the uses of / benefits of a 7 station vs a 5 station press.  More useful for all the extra steps needed for straight wall cases like flaring the case mouth?

While there are other possible uses for 7 stations:

1. Decap/resize
2. Flare/Bell
3. Powder Measure
4. Powder Check
5. Bullet Feeder
6. Seater
7. Crimp/debell

- On a (eg) Hornady AP the PM can also flare/bell, but that adds complication to the PM setup on changeover which some folks bypass by buying extra parts per caliber..
- The Powder Check/Cop die is a good safety feature; a good one can not only detect zero/double charges, but also smaller variations in powder throw.
- Add a bullet feeder (and a case feeder), and reloading is a lot more comfortable and fast.
- Separating seat from crimp once again simplifies setup and maintains higher quality in both operations, and can be a way to ensure debelling cases of different lengths.

The latest news is no news.  At the show they said 2 to 3 months......with the case feeder available this summer.

Another revelation though....

RCBS staff has finally answered a few emails about the presses.  Surprises too.

first one (sorry it's in caps...came that way)
THE NEW PRO CHUCKER 7 PRESS IS CAST HARD ALUMINMUM FRAME, WITH IRON CAST LINKAGE ARM AND TOGGLE BLOCK. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVING ANY ISSUE CAMING OVER THE PRESS.

The second one concerning the never ending RCBS/China connection rumors:

All of our presses are made in Oroville. The Pro Chuckers will have an aluminum frame and cast iron linkage arms. The Pro Chucker 5 will have die plates and shell plates available individually, the Pro Chucker 7 will have shell plates individually but the die plate will only come as a plate, powder measure assembly. We have gone back to the tube priming for the chuckers. The lifetime warranty will apply to function and machine work but not on normal wear and tear on the units.

Thank you for choosing RCBS
Have a great day
