I have a source for some reloader 12 but I need some data for the obsolete powder for 7.62x39mm before I will consider buying it.

Anyone have some old load data out there?

I know someone has to have an old alliant manual from like 1994 to look this up for me.

If no one chimes in over the next few days I'll head over to ballistics and see if they have archives of load data or possibly an old manual.

I checked my old manuals...1996 does not list it for 7.62x39.

Sorry

I went to ballistics and only found manuals from '95 and '96. Both have data for RE12 but there is no data for 7.62x39. I am supposed to call one of techs in the morning. He has some old manuals at home and he's going to look for you.

Thanks. I figure it will probably be a little on the slow side for 123gr but there should still be load data out there.

I just found a manual from 1992 online http://www.castpics.net/LoadData/Freebies/RM/Alliant/Hercules_1992.pdf it shows RE12 and 7.62x39 but there is no load data for it. I think you're SOL for this powder. According to several sources online Norma-202 and RE-12 were/are the same powder, but there is no data for Norma-202 that I can find either for your load.

RE-7 or RE-10x are better choices for 7.62x39mm. RE-12 works very well in .223, but because you probably will never get access to any more I would pass on any quantity below 8lbs. which would give you enough to last for a while.

Send an email to alliant, they have always been very resposive to me when I have needed load help.

My guy at ballistics didn't have any info for you. Sorry.

I dug through my old Alliant loading brochures (2000 and 2002). 7.62X39 is listed for three bullet weights (100ish to 150 gr). The lighter weight was shown for "2400" and Reloder #7 and the 150gr was for RE7 only. The Re12 column had no entries.
